Gijang Korean barbecue with pre-grilled pork: The Barbecue 051
In short
The Barbecue 051 is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Gijang, Busan, with the feel of a pension barbecue. We had two servings of pork belly, one serving of pork skirt meat, three handmade sausages, and brisket doenjang-jjigae. Verdict: the pre-grilled pork and crisp-chewy pork skin make this a place I would happily revisit.

Today I went to The Barbecue 051, a meat restaurant where you can get that pension barbecue feeling, haha. Songjeong is basically a mecca for university MT trips, right?! But doing a barbecue yourself can be such a hassle, while regular meat restaurants do not really have the atmosphere!! I came to Songjeong for my lab MT back in 2023, and this was the meat restaurant I visited then!! Haha, back at The Barbecue 051, a great Songjeong spot in Busan, for the first time in nearly three years!

The Barbecue 051: location, parking and pet policy
It is at 62 Gijanghaean-ro, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. It is open daily from 12:00 to 24:00, with last orders at 22:30. You can use the restaurant's dedicated parking lot or the free roadside parking in Gongsu Village, and Naver reservations are available, too. For same-day reservations, you need to call.
It is not far from Dongbusan Outlet and IKEA, so it is a lovely location for a meal after browsing around!! Pets are allowed as well, so keep that in mind! It is limited to one pet at a designated outdoor table.

Indoor and outdoor spaces with a pension barbecue feel
This is the exterior of The Barbecue 051. You can smell the barbecue-good-restaurant vibes from outside already, haha, right? It is a standalone two-story building, with a rooftop barbecue area packed with pocha-style outdoor-dining vibes 🔥 Plus, there is seating on the first floor too!

The palm-tree decor turns the barbecue mood even more up!!

The interior was full of guests, from children to adults!! They also have high chairs!

At 7:30 p.m. on a Saturday weekend, it was completely full...!!! It is such a popular Songjeong restaurant in Busan, so a Naver reservation is essential ❤

Ordering pork belly, pork skirt meat and handmade sausages
Here is the menu at Songjeong's The Barbecue 051. They have everything from sets with handmade skewers to hearty meal dishes! I was curious about the handmade sausages, so rather than getting a set, I ordered two servings of pork belly, one serving of pork skirt meat, and three handmade sausages! Once you order, they set out the basic side dishes.

Along with all the essentials for meat—fresh kimchi salad, kimchi, onions and sauces—that tofu kimchi was the real kick.. ❤

At the self-service bar, you can refill everything from fresh ssam vegetables (wrap greens) to side dishes! And!!! They put the alcohol in an ice bucket like this?!

Drinks often get lukewarm while you are eating meat, but putting them in an ice bucket like this means you can drink them cold right to the end 👍🏻 It totally won over this alcohol lover's heart.. ❤ After a short wait, our meat arrived after being pre-grilled!!

The meat in the photo was pork belly, pork neck, and sausage, but when I mentioned it, they changed it right away!!! They told me that pork jowl is not pre-grilled separately, haha. At first, a staff member put pork skin, meat, sausage, and vegetables on the grill for us!

They said to eat the pork skin first, cut the sausages so they cook through inside, then grill and eat the meat! The pork belly was thick and pre-grilled, so it was super easy to cook 🔥

Crisp-chewy pork skin and thick aged meat
First, this pork skin!! Honestly, I was not expecting much, but what is this.. It was crisp and chewy—the kind of flavor that calls for somaek, a soju-and-beer mix!!!! The person I went with took one bite, said, “Oh, this is good,” and wanted to cheers, lol.

And the handmade sausages—what more is there to say.. haha. I reaaally love sausages eaten at a barbecue like this, you know?! “₩10,000 for three?! Isn’t that expensive!!?” I thought, but they were plump, big sausages, so I immediately understood... They were incredibly tender and so delicious, haha. I think I ate two and a half of the three sausages myself lol.
And the most important thing: the meat!!! 🥩 No matter how good the interior is, the food has to taste good, right?! Just looking at it, the thickness and bright red color are a work of art, aren't they?!

Maybe because it is top-quality Korean female pork that has been aged, but the color was just perfect.. ❤ Since it comes pre-grilled, it is incredibly easy to cook too ❤ Plus, it was packed with juices and smoky flavor 🔥 The thick pork belly was the best.. 🤤 The fat-to-lean ratio was perfect, so it was really delicious! The pork jowl did not make it into a photo, sadly ㅜㅜ, but it was clean-tasting and good too!! Next time, I need to try the pork neck as well..!!
Finishing with brisket-filled doenjang-jjigae
Lastly, we also ordered the brisket doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew)!

A meat restaurant meal has to end with doenjji, right, haha. The Barbecue 051's doenjji is made with aged Korean doenjang and a blend of three jang sauces!! First of all, the portion was generous, and it was packed with zucchini, onion, tofu, mushrooms, and meat 👍🏻 It had such a deep yet clean flavor..?!

It was not spicy, so I chopped up some spicy Cheongyang peppers and added them, haha. Maybe because there was so much brisket in it, the broth was definitely deep..! I was too full to add a bowl of rice ㅠㅠ, but it was absolutely the kind of doenjji that makes you demolish rice!! Before leaving after the meal, I stopped by the restroom and found mouthwash like this, haha.

Such thoughtful owner energy—letting you rinse your mouth with mouthwash before heading out 👍🏻 Plus, the staff were all so kind and full of energy!@!
A Songjeong meat restaurant worth revisiting after three years
The Barbecue 051, a great meat spot in Gijang that I visited again after nearly three years. It is a Gijang meat restaurant you can trust, serving pre-grilled, aged, top-quality Korean female pork!! 👍🏻 Its indoor and outdoor decor, full of camping vibes, elevates the meat even more 🔥 Pets are allowed too, making it such a great meat restaurant for pet owners, haha. Since I had been here before, my revisit intention is 393,402%!
