Kids' soccer practice dinner at a Seokchon udon spot: fish cake udon
In short
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch (행복한우동가게 석촌호수점) is a 24-hour udon and pork cutlet restaurant on Samhaksa-ro in Songpa, Seoul, near Seokchongobun Station. On a rainy Thursday evening, while their child trained at a nearby soccer field, the family ordered old-style pork cutlet (₩10,900), bibim mandu (spicy mixed dumplings, ₩9,500) and fish cake udon with added dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste, ₩9,500). The fish cake udon was less spicy than hoped but had good broth and noodles, and the staff happily served the sauce on the side. Close to the soccer field and open 24 hours, Haengbokhan Udon Gage is a Seokchongobun Station udon spot likely to become a regular stop.

Where to eat near Seokchongobun Station during kids' soccer practice

Our kid had evening soccer training, so we fed them dinner first and sent them off. While they worked hard on the field, the rest of us decided to have our own dinner. I wondered if there was any decent place nearby, and we settled on Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch. It also seems perfect for a late-night snack when you're feeling peckish, a great udon place near Seokchongobun Station.
What's the atmosphere like at Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch?
The restaurant has a clean, cozy wood-toned interior, with a tablet menu at every table and a self-serve side dish corner. It was raining, so we picked dishes that suited the weather.

Walking in, we were greeted by a tidy, homey feel overall. The warm wood interior made it a comfortable place to eat.

Each table has a neatly installed tablet menu, so it's easy to order right from your seat.

On one side there's a tidy self-serve corner where you can help yourself to kimchi, pickled radish, small plates and more.

Overall the place was pleasant and no-fuss clean, which made it a good pick for a family meal out.

After some deliberation we ordered the old-style pork cutlet, the bibim mandu, and the fish cake udon. For the udon we added dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste) to go for a fiery bowl.

Is the fish cake udon with extra dadaegi spicy?
Even with the dadaegi added, the fish cake udon wasn't as spicy as I'd imagined, but the broth and chewy noodles were so good that I finished it all. The dishes came out one after another, and they looked mouthwatering right away.

I stirred the dadaegi into the steaming broth hoping for a kick, but it wasn't as spicy as I expected. Still, the broth was fantastic, and I slurped it down to the end. The noodles were chewy too, so they just kept going down. Next time I'll try the pepper udon! 👍

What does the bibim mandu taste like?
The bibim mandu was a treat too: crunchy vegetables and crispy fried dumplings wrapped up in a sweet and tangy sauce.

Can you ask for the old-style cutlet sauce on the side?
As Minimani (my kid's nickname) requested, the old-style pork cutlet came with the sauce served separately. The staff understood how much Minimani wanted it crispy, so it stayed crunchy to the very end. The sauce was sweet and salty and went down so well.

Minimani loved it too, exclaiming over every bite. Minimani said it was so delicious and even begged me to write "This place is so good" under the photos on my blog. 🤣 Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch clearly hits the spot for kids' tastes too.
