Today I visited Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch, a beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, for a hearty family lunch — some proper beef to build us back up haha. The meat quality was great and the place was so clean that it was perfect for taking my parents out to eat in Daegu! Let me write it up right away haha.

In baduk (go), the term 9dan is used for the highest rank, when a player's skill has reached a masterful, almost mystical level. Gogi 9dan borrowed this meaning, starting with the wish to reach that highest level in flavor, care, and experience.

The owner has worked in the food business for 30 years, always insisting on honest ingredients, carefully vetting every menu item from sourcing onward, and maintaining high quality through their own aging, trimming and handling system for the beef. Window-side reserved seats and the dining room

Since I made a reservation ahead of time, they had the window seat all set with dishes ready for the exact number of people!

Any extra dishes you need are stocked right in the drawer under the table haha.

There are comfortable four-person tables for family meals,

and you can lower the blinds in the middle for a quiet meal with your group, or seat everyone together for a big party — no problem with capacity! The restaurant was really spacious and clean haha.

It's especially great for anyone in Chimsan-dong looking for a beef restaurant that can host group gatherings or a nice place for a family meal — plenty of room to spread out comfortably!

They also have kids' chairs~~ With the convenient ordering system and pleasant space, it's a great place for a meal with kids or for group gatherings — a top choice for eating out with kids in Daegu~!

As soon as you walk in, you can watch them trim the ordered meat live in front of you — maybe that's why the meat is unbelievably fresh... Once you see it up close you'll really be surprised!

There are so many awards displayed out front too, including the Korea Food Service Management Award — the quality is really a different level. The staff were also so kind!

To make dining fun, fast, and comfortable, they've brought in 3 serving robots and a table-order kiosk system, so you can order easily sitting down, simple dishes get delivered by robot, and hot dishes are brought by staff directly! All the staff were so friendly👼🏻👼🏻🫶🏻🥹

What's in the 17,000-won 9dan set

We first ordered half a portion of flower short rib, half a portion of skirt steak, and the 9dan set!

The especially good-value 9dan set is another highlight unique to Gogi 9dan, and I really want to strongly recommend it — hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef, 80g) + pork kimchi jjigae + jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) + sushi with fresh wasabi, all for 17,000 won... This price is honestly unbelievable. It's a generous, well-priced set perfect for family meals, work dinners, friend gatherings, and even dates. I'll show you the details in photos below — this is truly a hidden gem beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu that deserves to be widely known!!!!

Starbucks-bean coffee and the iced-cup dessert bar

Up front, there's a palate-cleansing drink and snack area with coffee too,

premium coffee made with actual Starbucks beans, and

I was completely touched here honestly... They had a huge stack of ice cups ready so you could make yourself an iced Americano!! This is real thoughtfulness... The way each cup was neatly lined up in a row is so attentive, don't you think?

The side dish spread at Gogi 9dan Chimsan

Our half portions of flower short rib and skirt steak arrived along with the side dishes, and the quality of the side dishes alone was already insane.

Cabbage pickles, salad, japchae (glass noodles), seasoned crab, seaweed stem, and green onion kimchi — even the plating was so pretty!

The food hadn't even all arrived yet and this huge table was already full! One of the best value-for-money Daegu beef spots in Buk-gu haha.

Wow, just look at that color on the meat, isn't it glowing? So gorgeous.

The salad dressing was refreshing and really tasty too — I think I ate it all myself haha.

How to grill skirt steak medium rare

We put the skirt steak on the grill first~!

My unbreakable rule with beef: fully cooked = no good. Non-negotiable. So instead of piling it all on the grill at once like pork, the trick is to only add as much as you're about to eat right away! Don't throw more on just because the flow got interrupted.

Ah, you have to eat it while it still has that hint of pink like this — beef is definitely at its best medium rare.

I visited with my parents that day and I never once let go of the tongs — I made sure to grill it all myself. I strongly insisted that beef shouldn't be fully cooked, that they should eat it a bit rare haha. Thankfully my parents ate it happily!

How the 9dan set and flower short rib tasted

Next came the pride of Gogi 9dan and the best value on the menu — the 9dan set!

The jjolmyeon was so refreshing and delicious?!?! The sauce was absolutely perfect.

Isn't the color of the flower short rib so pretty? The meat quality is truly insane — I don't think I can eat beef anywhere else now. I think I'll only come here from now on for beef. Such good quality at such a fair price, a restaurant like this deserves to blow up.

Bringing all my focus to grill it just right, medium rare

The visuals are unreal, I want more already. It really melts in your mouth, the juices were locked in so moist that flavor just bursts in your mouth. You could really taste the richness of the fat so well ㅠㅠ

If you put the grilled beef on top of the sushi rice included in the 9dan set, you get top-tier beef sushi~! This is peak adult privilege.

Sotbap rice pots and pork kimchi jjigae

Koreans run on rice power, so I ordered my parents the nutrient sotbap (rice pot) — full of beans on top, totally packed with nutrients~! Pouring in the scorched-rice water at the end makes it even more delicious haha.

I split it half and half with my mom! We mixed it with the kimchi jjigae too, which had plenty of meat inside and a nice refreshing broth — so good!

You can also put the kimchi jjigae's beef on top as a side dish. Wow, being able to eat this filling of a meal — my parents were completely satisfied~!

Finishing with an iced Americano for dessert made it a full dessert-course kind of meal, so satisfying🩷 If you want to experience honest, healthy food made with a craftsman's sincerity — always fresh and special — I highly recommend Gogi 9dan, a top-tier Daegu beef spot and beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu!!!!
