Korean BBQ in Daegu's Anjirang Gopchang Alley: staff-grilled makchang

Anjirang Gopchang Makchang Apsan Branch is a makchang (grilled pork intestine) and gopchang (small intestine) restaurant in Anjirang Gopchang Alley in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu. The order was makchang, seasoned gopchang, heart and rice balls, and a staff member grilled the seasoned and unseasoned meat separately on two grill pans, so everything came out nutty and free of any gamey smell. With parking in front of the restaurant and the Anjirang Gopchang No. 2 public lot nearby, Anjirang Gopchang Makchang Apsan Branch is easy for travellers driving around Daegu.

Okonomiyaki bar seats and draft beer in Seongsu, Seoul: Hotcho Seongsu

Hotcho Seongsu is a Hiroshima-style teppan okonomiyaki restaurant on the galbi alley in Seongsu, Seoul, between Seoul Forest and Ttukseom stations. From a bar seat, we had the Hotcho Hiroshima okonomiyaki with extra beef topping and soy sauce yakisoba with draft beer for lunch, watching the batter cook on the griddle right in front of us. Hotcho Seongsu is an easy pick in Seongsu whenever you're craving Japanese-style teppan cooking.

Sindang gopchang restaurant that grills on a timer: Jinseong Hanwoo

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Sindang Direct Branch is a Hanwoo beef gopchang (grilled beef intestines), daechang and makchang restaurant almost right outside Sindang Station Exit 7 in Jung-gu, Seoul. This dinner was an order of beef gopchang and makchang plus kkakdugi-jeolim-maneul-yangbap (fried rice with cubed radish kimchi and pickled garlic), and a staff member set a timer and cut the intestines at the moment they cooked best. Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is a good choice if you want to eat gopchang without worrying about the grilling yourself.

Icheon charcoal BBQ with tendon stew and rice makgeolli: Neul Gogi Jip

Neul Gogi Jip Icheon Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled galbi restaurant on Gyeongchung-daero in Icheon, Gyeonggi. A couple ordered two servings of yeast-marinated pork neck galbi with two pot rice bowls, beef tendon doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and Icheon rice makgeolli, and staff grilled the first round before the couple finished the rest themselves. The marinated galbi was good, but the freshly steamed Icheon rice pot rice was the dish that keeps Neul Gogi Jip on the return list.
