Sangam gimbap takeout: three yubu flavors at Samhyeongje Gimbap

I needed lunch at Nuritkum Square but did not have much time. I chose gimbap for something quick yet filling and picked up three yubu gimbap varieties from Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch.

Where is Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch?

The shop is at 396 World Cup buk-ro, Nuritkum Square B1, Shop 1029, Mapo-gu, Seoul. This is where I went to pick up lunch.

The hours listed when the original post was written were 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturdays, with Sundays closed. Parking was listed as available with the first 30 minutes free, and there were no baby chairs.

How long did ordering and pickup take?

This is a takeout-only shop without seating. You choose and pay for your menu items at a kiosk, then take your gimbap with you, so the process was simple.

When I visited, most of the gimbap had already been made and was on display.

It felt like about 10 seconds from payment to picking up the gimbap. I did not time it exactly, but there was almost no wait that day, which was convenient during a rushed lunch break.

How did the three yubu gimbap flavors differ?

I chose Wonjo Yubu Gimbap, Maekom Eodeng Yubu Gimbap, and Wasabi Tuna Yubu Gimbap. Since the shop sells several flavors centered on yubu gimbap, I picked different varieties to compare.

Was the original yubu gimbap filling enough for a meal?

The Wonjo Yubu Gimbap had the characteristic sweet flavor of yubu, and it was easy to eat. The filling was quite substantial, so I felt that one roll would be enough for lunch.

How spicy was the spicy fish cake yubu gimbap?

I usually handle spicy food well, so I was not too concerned just from the name. However, the Maekom Eodeng Yubu Gimbap had the strongest flavor of the three.

At first it seemed fine, but the heat built as I kept eating, and even I found it quite spicy. If you are sensitive to spicy food, it may be better to alternate small bites with another flavor, such as the Wonjo Yubu Gimbap, rather than eat this one by itself.

Was the wasabi tuna yubu gimbap strongly sharp?

The third one I ate, the Wasabi Tuna Yubu Gimbap, was milder than I expected from its name.

For my taste, the wasabi did not stand out much, and the sharp sensation was not strong.

The savory tuna and sweet yubu went together for a different flavor from the spicy fish cake. Eating the three in rotation kept the meal from becoming monotonous.

Was the packaged gimbap easy to carry?

The gimbap was neatly wrapped in foil. It was convenient packaging for taking it somewhere else instead of eating it on the spot.

The rolls were packed so they would not come apart, making them easy to carry and simple to eat. It suited my situation because I needed to pick up lunch at Nuritkum Square and go somewhere else.

How was it for a short lunch break?

The most convenient thing about this visit was being able to pay for the prepared gimbap and take it right away.

I was able to pick up lunch quickly that day. There is no space to sit and eat, but it was convenient when I had little time and needed to take the food elsewhere.

Choosing several flavors to share would also work well. In the combination I tried, the sweet original, spicy fish cake, and relatively mild wasabi tuna were clearly different. The owner was also friendly, so I left with my takeout in a good mood.

If I visit again, I would like to try some of the other yubu gimbap varieties I did not have this time.
