Nonhyeon Korean BBQ with heart-shaped self-fried rice: Daepae Market

Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is 2 minutes from Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station, right on the main bar street. It's super easy to spot thanks to the '즉석 대패마-켙' (fresh-sliced meat market) sign!
Being on the main bar street means the accessibility is really great 💯

The inside of Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is very spacious with lots of 4-person tables. It looked like group reservations would be possible too!
You can tuck your bags right into the chairs!
Each table has a tablet for ordering. Even on an early weekday evening there were quite a lot of people! Guess it's popular because it's both great value and great quality~
In one corner there's a spot called the fresh-slicing workshop where you can watch staff slice the meat on the spot!

The prices at Daepae Market are seriously good! You can get thin-sliced pork belly and pork shoulder for ₩4,900, chewy pork shoulder for ₩5,900, and thin-sliced pork jowl or beef belly for ₩6,900!
Besides meat, you can also try rice dishes, noodles and stews at great value prices!! Note that the prices on the tablet, not the wall menu, are the correct ones~
The self-serve bar: 2,000 won per person, five vegetables
Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch has a veggie bar! It's only ₩2,000 per person, which is really reasonable!! 👏🏻
There are as many as 5 kinds of vegetables — lettuce, perilla leaves, baby napa cabbage, water dropwort, and dangwi (angelica) leaves — so you can pick according to your taste! I loved that they had water dropwort ㅠㅠ not sure why I didn't eat it though 🥹
There are also various side dishes and sauces! Kimchi, bracken, shredded green onion, and shredded onion are standard, and there's even green onion kimchi and corn kernels!
You're free to use the shredded green onion sauce, the house special sauce, and small plates from the veggie bar as you like!
Grabbed some lettuce, perilla leaves, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms and corn kernels!!!

The three servings of meat we ordered all came out at once! At Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch you grill the meat yourself to keep costs down, but I actually found it convenient since it cooked so quickly~
Cheap thin-sliced pork — does it have a gamey smell?
I've had plenty of experiences where cheap thin-sliced pork had a gamey smell, so I was half worried, half hopeful! But there was no gamey smell at all — I was so surprised!! 👍🏻👍🏻
🔥 Sizzle sizzle, bubble bubble, grilled up with care~ 🤤 Mouth-watering~ Meat cooked at lightning speed!
Meanwhile the bibim naengmyeon arrived! Yay!
It had just the right amount of broth, giving it that classic clean bibim naengmyeon feel~ Goes really well with the meat too~
Set the fully cooked pieces aside here to wait,
and grilled up the kimchi and green onion kimchi generously too. Ah, the kimchi here is seriously delicious ㅠㅠ grilling it makes it even better 💖
Nothing fancy but so delicious spam rice!! It's rice topped with spam ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ mashed it up small and ate it with the meat — heavenly ✨✨
No gamey smell at all, and every single wrap was so delicious 💗
Personally, the chewy pork belly had the best texture and became my favorite cut!!
Make sure to grill the kimchi and garlic well too!!
Finishing with 3,500-won self-fried rice, shaped like a heart
Self-fried rice time!! It had carrots and green onion in it, and that seasoning looked serious!!
Stir-fried with a giant spatula!! Skillfully shaped into a heart!!🫶🏻 The fried rice had corn, kimchi and finely chopped meat all mixed in! Loved that you can customize the fried rice too ㅠㅠ Absolutely delicious 👏🏻💖
