Busan Korean BBQ with a makchang and pork belly set: Jeongwon Makchang

Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch (정원막창 부산본점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Guseo-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, where you grill boiled pork makchang (large intestine) and fresh pork belly together. On a weekday evening the writer ordered the small Jeongwon Set and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), and found a self-bar with unlimited tteokbokki, mussel soup and lettuce wraps, roomy 4-person tables and 1 hour of parking per table. At Jeongwon Makchang the pork belly is as satisfying as the makchang, making it a solid pick for a family dinner.

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch (뼈대있는해장국 주촌점) is a Korean restaurant in Juchon-myeon, Gimhae, specializing in haejangguk (hangover soup) and gamjatang (pork bone stew). The stew was loaded with fern and meat, and the tangy jellyfish pyeonyuk and the stone pot rice nurungji (scorched rice) rounded it out well. For a filling, generous, good-value lunch in Juchon, Gimhae, the fern gamjatang at Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk is worth ordering.

Haeundae Chinese restaurant: chili ganjajang & octopus bowl, Bueokgan
