True to its name, Gamdol Yeontan Jip specializes in pork grilled over briquette coals, and honestly even the side dishes were all delicious. Gamdol Yeontan Jip is within a 5-minute walk from Yangjae Citizen's Forest Station, and it even has parking space for a whopping 4-5 cars, making it perfect for gatherings. The menu turned out to be more varied than expected, ranging from cuts of meat to full meal options. We ordered the juljuli teukmoksal — Gamdol Yeontan Jip's most recommended dish — along with flat bibim noodles and steamed egg on the side, finishing off with diced briquette fried rice.

Since we came to Gamdol Yeontan Jip, we had to start with the meat! The staff explains the cut and lays it on the grill for you, so all you need to do is flip it at the right moments.

Normally pork belly tends to be tastier than pork neck, but maybe because this is the premium cut, it had none of that chewy toughness — incredibly tender and really delicious.

Wrapped with the lettuce and kimchi that came alongside, it was pure bliss ⭐️ I fell in love with pork neck all over again today.

Flat spicy bibim noodles, 6,900 won

Personally, I'd recommend the flat bibim noodles just as much as the meat. Instead of regular thin noodles, they use a wide flat noodle, which gave it a distinctly different texture right from the start.

Piled with vibrant red sauce and plenty of vegetables, the visual alone got my appetite going. Wrapping the meat with the noodles was genuinely delicious.

Diced briquette fried rice, 6,900 won

The diced briquette fried rice comes out on a hot plate shaped into a round mound with little holes poked through the center — the visual alone stood out. Pop the runny egg yolk and mix it all together, and the nuttiness really comes through.

Steamed egg, 6,900 won

It just feels wrong not to order steamed egg at a Korean BBQ place, right? 😂 It arrived bubbling hot and was incredibly soft and moist. After the spicy bibim noodles, a spoonful of this balanced things out perfectly — the side dish combination worked really well.
