Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch (모닥 텍사스바베큐 동대구점) is the steak and barbecue place I headed to the moment I arrived at Dongdaegu Station on my birthday, when I came home to Daegu. I'm a country mouse living in Seoul, and it had been almost a month and a half since I'd been back, so I was excited from the second I stepped off the train. It's my birthday, so I can't just let it pass, right? A tasty steak in a nice atmosphere is what makes a birthday a real birthday!!

What are the exterior and atmosphere like?

Modak Texas Barbecue sits inside an alley, but its exterior is so full of American vibes that you can't just walk past it. From the moment I stepped in, the one-of-a-kind interior caught my eye. It felt like a barbecue house in an American movie, and it seemed like the perfect place to have a beer while watching a basketball game.

Seats for 4 to 8 people, for gatherings and birthday parties

The inside is decorated in warm wood tones with a nice mood, and there are seats for groups from 4 up to 8. It looked great for family gatherings, company dinners and get-togethers with friends. Personally, I thought a birthday party here would be wonderful. Good for my friends, good for me, good food!! Though your wallet might get a little thinner, hahaha. But if it's delicious, that's what counts, right??

There's also a marshmallow zone on one side of the restaurant. If you like marshmallows, please!!!!! give it a try. I was so full after the main dishes that I ended up not trying it. When I walked in I was sure I'd do it today, but after the meal I was so stuffed I didn't even think of it. I'm still a little sad about that. 🥺

How to order, the birthday event and the review event

You order easily on the tablet at each table, and I heard that if it's your birthday and you tell the staff, they'll run a birthday celebration for you. My birthday had already passed a bit, so sadly I couldn't take part, but if you visit on or around your birthday, I think it's worth using.

There's also a receipt review event running for all of June right now. Write a review and you can have any pasta for ₩10,000. Is there any reason not to do this one? If you visit, I recommend joining in and enjoying that ten-thousand-won happiness.

How do the nachos with beef stew taste?

The first dishes out after ordering were the nachos and beef stew, and the deep savory flavor of the beef stew was really impressive. Honestly, it was an appetizer so I didn't expect much, but one bite completely changed my mind. Eaten with the nachos, the combination was great too. It tasted like it would be fantastic with beer. My expectations shot up even before the main dish arrived.

How big is the Memphis Platter for 2?

Honestly, the Memphis Platter set for 2 was hearty enough that even 3 people could eat it!!! And here it finally is, the star of the day!! When it first came out I thought, "That's a lot for a set for two?" but once I started eating, I changed my mind completely.

What's in the Memphis Platter, and tortilla wraps

The Memphis Platter for 2 came loaded with pork ribs, barbecued meat and buffalo wings, plus tortillas, 3 kinds of sauce and salad, and the look of it was overwhelming. Looking at it alone made me feel full! Especially wrapping meat and sauce in a tortilla was the best 👍🏻 For me that was the biggest kick of the day. You can mix the ingredients to your own taste, so eating it was fun too.

Tender ribs, prepared for you by the staff

At Modak Texas Barbecue, after you finish taking photos, a staff member comes over and prepares the food so it's easy to eat. Thanks to that, I could eat comfortably. The ribs in particular were amazing!! The bones came away from the meat so easily. They felt like they melted the moment they went in my mouth. With a little exaggeration, they were so tender you could eat them without teeth!!

Why I recommend Modak Texas Barbecue for a birthday meal

Beyond the food, the atmosphere and the kindness of the staff also raised my satisfaction!! It's good for visiting with family, a relaxed place for eating out with kids, and of course a great spot for a beer with friends after a meal.

I chose it for my birthday meal back in Daegu after a long time away, and it was a really satisfying time. Atmosphere, taste, kindness, generous portions, nothing to complain about!! If you're looking for a good steak or barbecue place near Dongdaegu Station, I'd confidently recommend it~~
