Gogigupneunsaramdeul (고기굽는사람들) — a Sharosu-gil favorite / group dinner spot near Seoul National University Station / beef near Seoul National University Station

I wanted some really good meat in Sharosu-gil, so I went to Gogigupneunsaramdeul with my husband^^ It's a place people often recommend as a beef spot near Seoul National University Station, so I had high hopes, and the moment we walked in it felt different from an ordinary BBQ joint.
What comes in the 1++ Hanwoo brisket samhap set at Gogigupneunsaramdeul?
What we ordered at Gogigupneunsaramdeul was the 1++ Korean beef chadol samhap (brisket "triple combo") set. When it came out, the look of it alone made me go ooh~~~ wow~~^^

Fresh brisket and scallops come with all kinds of pickles and side dishes, and the whole table was filled up generously. Time to grill, grill, grill!!!

Best pairings for brisket samhap: hairtail jeotgal, wasabi or pickles?
The tables at Gogigupneunsaramdeul have a guide for how to eat chadol samhap best, so

we followed it exactly, and trying the combos one by one was seriously fun~~ haha

We tried wasabi, seasoned radish, galchi-sok-jeot (salted fish gut jeotgal), chili pepper pickles and more, and my favorite was the jeotgal combo. Add the jeotgal and the savory umami of the kimchi-style seaweed pickle to the nutty richness of the brisket and you just keep reaching for more.

A little wasabi on top cuts the richness and brings out the flavor, so personally it's the combo I recommend most.

Eating it with the chili pepper pickles and seasoned radish had its own charm too, so I never got tired of it to the end.
Ghee butter pen shell scallops with Maldon salt
The ghee butter scallops that came with the samhap set are a strong recommendation too! The subtle butter flavor went so well with the chewy scallop, and eaten together with the brisket, richness filled my whole mouth.

They also have Maldon salt, which I'm told is royal-warrant certified in the UK, and dipping the meat lightly in it made the natural flavor of the beef come through much stronger.

Maybe because it's aged meat, the flavor gets deeper the more you chew, and I immediately understood why it's famous in Sharosu-gil! haha
Gogigupneunsaramdeul sides: charcoal-grilled rice ball and aged-kimchi stew
The side dishes at Gogigupneunsaramdeul left me very satisfied too.

For the charcoal-grilled rice ball (jumeokbap-gui), you shape the rice into a ball yourself, press it flat and grill it slowly, so it's fun to watch, and it was crispy outside and moist inside, which went really well with the brisket.

The last thing we ordered was the HanDon (Korean pork) aged-kimchi stew (mugeunji kimchi-jjigae), packed with well-fermented kimchi and meat, and the spicy, deep broth was excellent.

On top of that, the steamed egg (gyeran-jjim) was so soft and moist, just right to eat with the meat.

Even the closing meal was perfect, what a meal!

Is Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil good for group dinners and dates?
Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil has a clean, stylish feel. The tables are spaced widely so it never felt cramped, and it wasn't noisy, so it was comfortable to eat.

The mood is easy for anyone, from couples on dates to families, friends and office gatherings.

So I thought it would be a really good group dinner spot near Seoul National University Station too.

Entrance amenities and the free yogurt drink
And you can feel the owner's thoughtfulness all over the place.

At the entrance of Gogigupneunsaramdeul they have fabric deodorizer, hair ties, mouthwash and even dental floss, so you can freshen up after the meal, and they finished us off with a free yogurt drink, which was a nice way to end^^
There's room for about two cars in front of the restaurant, so that's worth knowing if you're driving.
