Dongtan BBQ with steamed egg custard and doenjang stew: Gogigaondang

In short

Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch is a cauldron-lid pork BBQ restaurant in Bansong-dong, Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, where staff grill the meat for you at the table. On a weekend evening a family of three ordered one serving of pork belly and one of pork neck with homemade doenjang stew (fermented soybean paste stew) and steamed egg custard, grilling kimchi, bean sprouts, bracken and onion along with tofu. Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch turned out to be an easy family dinner spot where you can enjoy a full meat spread while still looking after a child.

Today I'm sharing a review of Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch, a Dongtan restaurant known for delicious pork belly, where my family and I had a hearty meal with our kid on a weekend evening in August 2026.

When you go to a BBQ restaurant with a kid, it can get pretty chaotic — grilling the meat while also looking after your child. But this time, the staff grilled the meat for us, and they even brought out a generous serving of egg custard that our kid loves, so all three of us got to eat comfortably :)

A weekend evening at this Dongtan BBQ restaurant

Entrance of Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch on a weekend evening

Maybe because it was a weekend evening, customers kept coming in from the moment we arrived. Let's head in too.

The restaurant was busy so I couldn't get a full shot of the interior, but it had a cozier atmosphere than I expected — good for a family dinner. Once we sat down, the basic side dishes started coming out one by one.

The meat hadn't even arrived yet and the table was already pretty full haha

Plate of sauces prepared to suit different tastes

They also had sauces set out to suit your taste.

We tried a bit of the mukguk (acorn jelly cold soup) that came as a default side, and it was so refreshing in this hot weather. Perfect for whetting your appetite before the meat arrives :)

One serving each of pork belly and pork neck, plus homemade doenjang stew

Let me show you the menu.

We ordered one serving of pork belly and one of pork neck, along with homemade doenjang stew and steamed egg custard.

And the thing I liked best about Gogigaondang as someone visiting with a kid — they grill the meat for you! If you've been to BBQ restaurants with a kid before, you know this is a bigger perk than it sounds haha. Between feeding your kid, keeping them away from the hot grill, and flipping the meat, it can get overwhelming.

Staff grilling meat on the cauldron lid

At Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch, the staff handle the grilling, so we just had to wait while looking after our kid :)

Homemade doenjang stew served alongside

While the meat was cooking to a golden brown, the homemade doenjang stew arrived.

The spicy broth was packed with ingredients and meat, and it paired really well with the grilled meat.

Steamed egg custard, our kid's favorite dish

And then came our kid's absolute favorite dish!

Steamed egg custard puffed up in an earthenware pot

Steamed egg custard. It puffed up almost overflowing the earthenware pot, and the portion was quite generous too.

When you're at a BBQ restaurant with a kid, having egg custard alone is reassuring haha. Our kid ate it up well, so we were able to feed them a solid meal alongside the meat.

A full spread grilled on the cauldron lid

Bracken fern and onion grilling on the cauldron lid

Once the meat was cooked through, they piled kimchi, bean sprouts, bracken fern, and onion all around the cauldron lid at once.

They also cut the meat into bite-sized pieces for us.

They even topped the kimchi with tofu, and that combination was so good.

Thanks to that, we got an unexpected bonus of dubu-kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi) right at the BBQ restaurant haha.

Once they added the myeoljeot (salted anchovy sauce), the meal was finally ready to enjoy properly!

Golden, well-grilled pork belly and pork neck paired with grilled kimchi and bean sprouts — this was exactly the kind of BBQ spread I love.

Homemade side dishes and self-serve bar refills

Now let's dig in properly.

Meat plated together with side dishes
Grilled pork belly wrapped in wild garlic leaf
A piece of meat served with wasabi
Meat paired with grilled kimchi and tofu
Homemade side dishes paired with the meat
Kimchi and side dishes refilled from the self-serve bar
The full Gogigaondang meat spread through to the end of the meal

The meat is delicious on its own, but my favorite combination that day was myeongi-namul (wild garlic leaf) + meat + wasabi! It wasn't greasy at all and I kept going back for more. Gogigaondang apparently makes its side dishes in-house, and maybe that's why it was so fun trying each one alongside the meat. Any side dish that ran low could easily be refilled at the self-serve bar.

While eating, we grabbed more kimchi and refilled a few side dishes we liked :)

Final verdict: is Gogigaondang a good Dongtan BBQ spot with kids?

That's our review of Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch, a Dongtan restaurant known for delicious pork belly, which we visited with our kid. That day our family ordered pork belly, pork neck, doenjang stew, and egg custard, and we left completely full.

What stood out most was how convenient it was that the staff grilled the meat for us while we were there with our kid. And it wasn't just meat on the cauldron lid — with kimchi, bean sprouts, bracken fern, onion, and tofu all piled on generously, there was a lot of fun in trying everything together.

Our kid ate the egg custard and meat well, and my spouse and I enjoyed the grilled kimchi and side dishes too — it felt like a proper, satisfying BBQ meal after a while ^^ If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant to visit with a kid in Dongtan, or a Dongtan spot for a comfortable family meal, Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch is worth a stop :)
