Yakiniku near Millak Waterside Park: mini grills and nabe at Bisyoku

In short

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a Kyoto-style yakiniku restaurant near Millak Waterside Park in Suyeong, Busan. On a date with her husband, the writer grilled the Yasashi Set (200g premium sirloin and 300g pork belly) on a personal mini grill at the 1st-floor counter, then added hanwoo nabe (Korean beef hot pot) for 15,000 won extra with the set. With tender meat and a feel of being on a trip to Japan, Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is an easy pick for a Gwangalli date.

No need to go to Kyoto

I finally got out on a date with my husband and found a really delicious yakiniku (Japanese-style grilled meat) place! The atmosphere feels like Kyoto, and the yakiniku melts in your mouth~!! Here's my honest review of Bisyoku Gwangan Branch (비쇼쿠 광안점), a lovely spot where we made a special memory :)

Where is Bisyoku Gwangan Branch and what are its hours?

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is at 9-5 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro 344beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan, and it's open Wed–Sun 12:00–24:00, closed on Tuesdays. It suits anyone looking for a Gwangalli meat restaurant or a Gwangalli date spot with drinks.

A Kyoto-style yakiniku exterior and counter seats

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a two-story wooden building near Millak Waterside Park. It's getting hot as a foodie spot, and after visiting I could see why right away. It feels like a Kyoto yakiniku restaurant picked up and moved here!

The entrance looks totally Japanese, right? I've been dying to go to Japan lately and keep planning trips, so I treated this as a preview of a Japan trip! It really felt like being on vacation~

There are various kinds of seating inside, and we settled on the 1st floor first. There are counter seats (called dacchi-seok in Korean) and tables, but the tables were already reserved, so we were guided to the counter :)

This is the counter already set up. Isn't even this adorable? My husband was already excited :)

What's in the Yasashi Set, and how much is the hanwoo nabe add-on?

The Yasashi Set at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a set menu of 200g premium sirloin and 300g pork belly, with a small portion of grilled vegetables, and it's plenty for two people. I agonized over the menu and went with the Yasashi Set!

We also ordered the hanwoo nabe (Korean beef hot pot) as an add-on. When you order a yakiniku set, it's only ₩15,000 extra :)

Pink pig call bell and a cute table setting

The pink pig on the table is what you press instead of a call bell! So cute, right? This cheerful call bell caught my eye haha. Every time I pressed it I couldn't help grinning haha.

The table setting is just as adorable. Plates like these make it feel even more Japanese.

Personal mini grills at the counter: is it smoky?

The counter seats at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch have personal mini grills with a vent that sucks the smoke right up, so no worrying about smoke clinging to your clothes :) When the Yasashi Set arrives, a staff member grills the first pieces and places them one at a time, and the mood is amazing.

Look at the condition of the meat~ Amazing, right? Just from the marbling you can tell it's really premium grade :) The pork belly is thicker than thin-sliced daepae pork but much thinner than regular pork belly, so it grills up really tender!

How to eat the premium sirloin for the best flavor

At Bisyoku Gwangan Branch they grill the beef first. They place one piece, and I dunked it deep in the sauce and was totally smitten! The sauce isn't salty at all, so you can soak the meat in it with no problem :) Just dunk it in without worrying!

They also grill zucchini, shishito peppers, king oyster mushrooms, potatoes and eggplant alongside, which go great with the meat! They look pretty and taste good, so it's even better than eating meat alone. You can order more vegetables, so keep that in mind~

Cook it just on the surface, then dip it in salt or top it with wasabi and it really melts away. I recommend eating the beef first, then the pork belly! And be sure to eat the vegetables along with it :)

Pork belly and grilled vegetables: how they taste

The pork belly in the Yasashi Set has a rich, nutty fat flavor with a different charm from the beef~ Personally, I liked the pork belly more :)

Grilled vegetables including shishito peppers and eggplant
Grilled pork belly and king oyster mushrooms

The shishito peppers weren't spicy at all, the eggplant was crispy outside and moist inside when grilled, and the king oyster mushrooms were full of juices, adding much more flavor alongside the meat :) I was too full to order more vegetables, but if you have a big appetite, definitely add some~

Hanwoo nabe ordered as an add-on

Is the hanwoo nabe (Korean beef hot pot) worth adding?

The hanwoo nabe at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is placed on a burner and you just boil and eat, so it's super easy :) We ordered it as a ₩15,000 add-on to the yakiniku set.

It's packed with ingredients, and honestly I'd be full from the hanwoo nabe alone~ If you're having yakiniku, definitely try the nabe as an add-on~ You won't regret it :)

Snow falling outside Bisyoku as we paid

When I stepped out of Bisyoku Gwangan Branch to pay, it was snowing right then~ I knew it snows on the hour, but catching it falling just at that moment was such good luck~ haha. I filmed it too, and lots of other diners had come out of their meals to watch!

If you're looking for a yakiniku restaurant with a great date atmosphere, a Gwangalli food spot, or a Gwangalli date course, I recommend Bisyoku Gwangan Branch :)
