Gwangalli sashimi restaurant ocean-view feast: Geumrang Hoetjip
In short
Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, facing the sea and Gwangan Bridge beyond Millak Port. I reserved a window table with my parents and enjoyed abalone innards porridge, raw seafood, assorted sashimi, mero steak, and spicy fish stew in order. Verdict: Reserve ahead for a filling seafood spread with a Gwangan Bridge view.

If you absolutely cannot give up a view of Gwangan Bridge and the sea, but also want to avoid absurd prices or an intimidating atmosphere, you have come to exactly the right place ˗.ᐟ.ᐟ

Today, I’m introducing ❝ Geumrang Hoetjip (금랑횟집) Gwangalli Main Branch ❞

This is a sashimi restaurant where Gwangan Bridge comes into full view beyond the everyday scenes of Millak Port. If this Gwangan Bridge view and seafood spread had been transplanted into a wide-open ocean-view dining space, we probably would have paid at least 1.5 to 2 times more...!

From a Gwangalli seafood restaurant worth visiting to a no-fail route for a family meal in Busan, I’ll show you everything carefully from here 🩵
Reserving a window table at Geumrang Hoetjip

When you go up to the sixth floor and enter the restaurant,

the framed autographs of famous visitors filling the space beneath the ceiling are the first thing to catch your eye. It really has the feel of a longtime, local neighborhood sashimi restaurant in Busan.
But if that warm, neighborhood-sashimi-restaurant-style first impression made you assume the spread would be modest, you need to see ˗ˋˏ Geumrang Hoetjip’s first course ˎˊ˗.

Even before the main sashimi arrives, the scale is already...𖤐

First, soothe your stomach with abalone innards porridge,

then a whole table of raw seafood arrives: gaebul (spoon worm), sea cucumber, sea squirt, shrimp, thinly sliced boiled octopus, and taco wasabi (octopus with wasabi).

The live octopus in particular was chopped very finely and served with scallions. The sesame-oil aroma gently came through, and I really loved its pleasantly chewy texture.

Because it does not come with large whole tentacles, even those who are hesitant about live octopus can pick it up with their chopsticks without feeling pressured ˗.ᐟ.ᐟ
There was also konowata (salted sea cucumber entrails), with its concentrated salty ocean aroma . . ෆ The seafood lineup was seriously solid.
☑︎ For anyone unfamiliar with seafood terms such as taco wasabi and konowata, I have separately organized some easy-to-read facts. Give them a quick read before your visit - 🩵

Among all that raw seafood, warm, soft side dishes such as corn cheese, steamed egg, kimchi pancake, and cheese gratin are tucked in generously. If you love seafood but find eating everything raw a little daunting, you can choose the warm dishes instead. I really loved that everyone could enjoy the meal together according to their own preferences . . ෆ
What comes with the main Waterside Feast sashimi?
The first spread alone was filling enough, but then ˗ˋˏ the second course, the main sashimi ˎˊ˗ appeared 🥹
You could clearly see the different colors and grain of fish including flounder, rockfish, red sea bream, mullet, and olive flounder. Looking closely, the thickness and length of each sashimi slice differed by fish.
I also covered separately why each fish is prepared differently to suit its characteristics, so be sure to read that too . . ෆ
There were three of us, and we were served four slices of every type of fish. We each shared one slice fairly, then had one left over to choose whichever cut we wanted more of...𖤐
Warm dishes and spicy fish stew

Mero steak with a creamy sauce, addictive fried corn, and albap (fish roe rice) come out one after another.

After cold seafood, warm dishes have to come next, right? ˗.ᐟ.ᐟ

And the spicy fish stew that brought everything to a close. The broth looked clearer than I expected, so I was almost a little disappointed, wondering whether it would not be the refreshing, spicy stew I had hoped for. But I could not wait for the broth to boil... haha. One spoonful in, and the aroma of sansho pepper swept through with a refreshing, tingling heat—ohhh . . . ෆ
Weekday lunchtime at a window table

The window tables are the prime seats for seeing Gwangan Bridge up close ◡̈ At lunchtime, though, the strong natural light outside can create backlighting when you photograph the food...!
With such a generous spread in front of you, it would be a shame to spend all your energy on photos 🥺 Instead of focusing on the camera, I recommend filling your own eyes with the open view of Gwangan Bridge and Gwangalli Sea, then settling into the meal comfortably 🩵
A no-fail tip for reserving a window table?
When I asked the staff, they said dinner is so busy that it can be difficult to sit by the window without reserving in advance 🥺 Lunchtime is a little more flexible depending on the day, but

You would be so disappointed to make the trip and miss this view.
It had been a while since I last had a meal out with my parents, so I reserved two days before our visit in case we were not assigned a window table ◡̈

If you are bringing your parents or visiting for a special occasion, definitely reserve ahead so you can enjoy the ocean view with total peace of mind 🩵
Geumrang Hoetjip parking
The parking lot and restaurant building are exactly a 30-second walk apart ◡̈
If you are driving, I recommend entering Millak Waterside Park Public Parking Lot into your navigation rather than the restaurant name.

Before leaving after your meal, tell them your vehicle number to receive parking support. Just keep in mind that a small additional fee may apply depending on how long you stay ...𖤐

Even on such an overcast day, the Marine City skyscrapers and outline of Gwangan Bridge filled my view. On a clear day, the water must sparkle so much more, right...? 🥹

If you want to fill up at a great Gwangalli sashimi restaurant and take a walk to digest, while avoiding the bustle of Gwangalli Beach’s tourist-packed main street but fully enjoying a seaside stroll with Gwangan Bridge in view, save Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch ! ෆ
