Aged sashimi platter at Chamchiya, a Pyeongchon sashimi restaurant

In short

Chamchiya is a Japanese-style sashimi restaurant on the second floor near the plaza at Pyeongchon Station in Anyang, Gyeonggi, specializing in aged sashimi. A couple stopped in after work for the assorted aged sashimi platter and fried squid, and a Naver review event added an assorted sushi plate to a table already filled with sides such as spicy raw fish salad, macaroni salad and tuna mayo crackers. Even for a couple who don't drink, Chamchiya made a full dinner, with 3 hours of free parking and good value for a date.

What kind of place is Chamchiya, the aged sashimi restaurant near Pyeongchon Station?

🍣 A place where you can bite into pure freshness! A date at a sashimi restaurant near Pyeongchon Station that nails both value and taste. On a weekday evening, after a hard day, my husband and I went looking for a nice sashimi spot with good atmosphere for a special dinner.

Steering away from the always-crowded downtown area, while searching for somewhere cozy yet delicious for aged sashimi, we discovered 'Chamchiya' near Pyeongchon Station.

Even for a couple like us who don't drink much, the sashimi, side dishes, and basic banchan alone made for a wonderful dinner, so I really wanted to introduce this place. Now let's get into the review of Chamchiya, the Pyeongchon Station restaurant that delighted both eyes and mouth!

Is the atmosphere at Chamchiya good for a date?

Chamchiya is on the 2nd floor of a building near the Pyeongchon Station plaza, with the vibe of a Japanese izakaya. The cozy, emotional interior suits couples on dates or small gatherings well.

Set in a building near the Pyeongchon Station plaza, 'Chamchiya' catches the eye from the entrance with its soft wood tones and charming little props reminiscent of a real Japanese izakaya.

Unlike the usual loud, chaotic sashimi restaurants, this atmospheric, emotional space felt perfect for chatting over a meal — a great date course or small gathering spot.

What sides come with a meal at Chamchiya?

Chamchiya's sukidashi spread came with spicy raw fish salad, macaroni salad, tuna mayo crackers, cucumber salad, and white kimchi. It had that appetizing, sweet-and-tangy sukidashi charm.

Sweet and tangy hoemuchim (raw fish salad): fresh vegetables topped with thick cuts of fish, drizzled with spicy-sweet chogochujang sauce — a cheat-code dish that instantly perks up your appetite before the main meal.

Macaroni salad & tuna mayo crackers: macaroni salad with pops of sweet corn, and tuna mayo piled on crispy crackers — a nutty flavor everyone from kids to grandparents loves.

Crunchy cucumber salad and aged kimchi: the white kimchi and the salty, crunchy cucumber salad play a great supporting role, cutting through any richness from the sashimi.

Assorted aged sashimi, fried squid and the review-event sushi plate

At Chamchiya, the two of us ordered assorted aged sashimi and fried squid. We browsed the menu and ordered through the tablet installed at each table.

And by joining the Naver review event, we also got to try assorted sushi, rounding off a wonderfully full spread.

The assorted sashimi, neatly arranged on the plate, radiated freshness just by looking at it.

The salmon and white fish glistened with their distinct sheen, and the chewy texture when you bit in was truly excellent.

Crisp outside, tender inside: fried squid with vegetable tempura

Piled high in a cute bamboo basket, the tempura caught our eyes with its golden-brown look alone.

Beyond the squid tempura, the vegetable tempura — sweet pumpkin, peppers, and more — came out crispy with no sogginess at all, and dipping it in soy sauce brought out genuine exclamations of delight.

What's on the review-event assorted sushi plate?

From vividly red tuna to fresh live fish, soft salmon, and shrimp sushi, there was fun in picking and choosing what to eat.

The rice seasoning was just right, and the fish slices were thick, so even a single piece filled your mouth with rich flavor.

💡 Final verdict on Chamchiya

Every dish felt made with care, and the fast ingredient turnover meant the freshness really came through.
