Timevillas Suwon hotpot restaurant with jjamppong noodles: Horangigul
In short
Horangigul Timevillas Suwon is a gopchang and daechang (beef intestine) hotpot restaurant on the 3rd floor of Timevillas Suwon at 134 Sehwa-ro, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. The daechang hotpot came with an added portion of jjamppong noodles for 4,000 won and a bowl of rice, and the fish cake, tofu, chives and daechang were fished out one by one until not a drop of broth was left. The daechang had no off smell and the broth-soaked tofu and fish cake stood out, so Horangigul is worth a return visit with a friend.

Hi, this is Cheese. Lately I've been craving spicy broth nonstop, so I want to introduce a Suwon Timevillas restaurant I visited. It's Horangigul Timevillas Suwon, known for its gopchang and daechang hotpot. The place is always packed, so I went in half-doubtful — one bite in, I was fully convinced. A friend told me this was her favorite spot, and after eating there I got it: I understood exactly why it's so popular and why she loves it.

What is Horangigul Timevillas Suwon like inside?
Horangigul Timevillas Suwon is on the 3rd floor of Timevillas Suwon, and it was easy to find thanks to a big signboard with a tiger illustration right at the entrance. The wooden sign has Chinese characters spelling out 'gopchang specialty restaurant.' Inside, noren curtains hang over a wood-toned, Japanese-style interior that felt cozy. Tables were spaced generously too, making it a comfortable Suwon Timevillas restaurant to eat at.

Horangigul menu, ordering rules and parking
This is the menu board standing at the entrance. There's original daechang hotpot, gopchang hotpot, and beef gopchang daechang hotpot. You can pick from four spice levels, from mild to extra spicy.
Single-serving hotpot and rice bowl orders are only available weekdays from 10:30am to 2:30pm. On weekday evenings and weekends, you need to order at least two servings of hotpot, so keep that in mind. The address is 134 Sehwa-ro, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, and it's open daily from 10:30am to 10pm. Parking is simple too — you just use the Timevillas parking lot, so it's convenient if you're driving. Among Suwon Timevillas restaurants, this one has fairly specific time-based ordering rules, so it's good to know before you go.

First look at the daechang hotpot with jjamppong noodles
The hotpot arrived bubbling away. Tofu, green onion, bean sprouts, and napa cabbage were piled generously on top of the broth. The broth itself was clean and refreshing.
A notice on the table said each serving includes 210g of vegetables. Since a serving of salad is usually around 100–120g, that's nearly double. With bean sprouts, mung bean sprouts, napa cabbage, green onion, and onion all in there, it felt really filling.
I added jjamppong noodles (spicy seafood noodle soup noodles) as a noodle add-on for ₩4,000. They're served on a separate plate so you can add them in whenever you like. You absolutely must add the noodles — they were so good I actually considered ordering a second batch.

Eating in order: fish cake, tofu, then chives
Once the broth started boiling, I fished out the fish cake first and dipped it in the sauce. It went down smoothly and was a great way to start. Honestly, the fish cake was so good.

The tofu had soaked up plenty of broth too, so the outside was spicy while the inside stayed savory and mellow. Anyone who loves tofu in hotpot will genuinely fall for this. The tofu was delicious because the broth had really seeped into it.

The chives (garlic chives) were tastiest cooked through and then scooped out. They kept a crunchy texture that cut through the richness. I'm not usually a big chive fan, but the texture and taste here won me over.

How the broth tastes over a bowl of rice
I ordered a separate bowl of rice. It looked so glossy that I wanted to mix it into the broth right away.

So I properly mixed the rice into the broth and scooped it up together. The spicy broth soaking into every grain of rice was a real treat. It was the moment I felt it was worth searching for a Suwon Timevillas restaurant to come find. Even on a hot day, Horangigul was packed with people waiting, and once I tasted it, I understood exactly why.

Does the daechang at Horangigul have any off smell?
The daechang (beef intestine) was plump, and biting into it released a burst of fat. There was zero off smell, so even people who usually find daechang intimidating should be able to enjoy this.

The tofu had soaked up so much broth that one bite gave you both the texture of the tofu and the flavor of the broth together — it was so good. I really wished there was a tofu or fish cake noodle add-on so I could order more. I never expected tofu could taste this good.

Two sauces come with the meal, and they especially suited plain ingredients like tofu. The seasoning wasn't too strong, letting the flavor of each ingredient come through.

The daechang cooked up plump and springy, with really great texture. I didn't even know I liked daechang until now — it's so savory and delicious here. So I've already decided to come back with a friend next time.

The fish cake really worked well too. It's in the hotpot, and since I genuinely love fish cake, I was so satisfied. It was thick enough to soak up plenty of broth, so its distinct flavor blended perfectly with the soup.

Finishing the pot with the jjamppong noodles
After eating through most of the ingredients, I added in the noodle add-on. You're supposed to add the noodles once you've eaten a good amount of the other ingredients. I wondered if noodles would really work in a hotpot like this, but with the broth being so spicy and refreshing, I figured they'd be a perfect match.

I cooked the meat in the broth and dipped it in sauce — that combo was really great. It was sliced thin, so it cooked fast and I kept reaching for more.

Once the noodles were fully cooked, they'd soaked up so much broth they were as rich as bibim-myeon (spicy mixed noodles). The chewy noodles clung to the spicy broth — a perfect way to finish.
And that's how I drained the broth down to the last drop. Hotpot, rice, and noodle add-on — I ate through everything, and it was a truly satisfying meal. I've already decided to come back with a friend next time. It's genuinely that good. I hereby name this my go-to Suwon Timevillas restaurant.
