Hanam Korean restaurant with herbal beef bone soup: Baekheukdam

I went to Baekheukdam (백흑담) in Hanam for lunch. They also serve samgyetang, but since I had had samgyetang the day before, I chose hanbang ugoltang (herbal beef bone soup) this time. The tender meat and herbal-scented broth stayed with me.

Where is Baekheukdam, and was parking convenient?

Baekheukdam is on the first floor at 93 Misadong-ro, Hanam, Gyeonggi. The hours listed in the original post are 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, with a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. High chairs are available, and takeout is also possible.

The exterior was large-scale with a modern feel. The parking lot was spacious, so I was able to park comfortably before going in.

Is it good for a meal with parents or a group?

The entrance opened with a light push, and the interior was neat and comfortable. I was shown to a window seat where I could look outside.

The interior was arranged spaciously, mainly with four-person tables. When I visited, nearby office workers were having a group meal, and there was also group seating for 10 or more people. With plenty of seating and parking, I thought it would be good for bringing my parents or having a family gathering.

What did I order, and how did ordering work?

Each table had a tablet for ordering and payment. The menu included several kinds of samgyetang, galbitang, and ongsimi, and I ordered the hanbang ugoltang.

After I ordered, cold boricha (barley tea) was served.

How large was the hanbang ugoltang, and what was the meat like?

Hanbang ugoltang was the same dish as galbitang. It came as a generous bowl, and it felt like more than I could comfortably finish alone.

The meat was so tender that it came away easily just by picking it up. I usually find it difficult to eat chewy foods, but the meat I had that day did not feel tough.

The broth had a herbal aroma while still tasting clean and refreshing. As I ate the tender meat with the broth, I thought of my parents.

What side dishes and rice came with it?

The side dishes were tangy kkakdugi, spicy geotjeori (fresh kimchi), and pickled onions. They went well with the hanbang ugoltang, and I mixed the millet rice that came with it into the broth.

What I liked about this meal was the tender texture of the meat and its mild flavor. They also serve haesintang and perilla seed samgyetang, so next time I would like to come with my parents and try the haesintang.
