Songpa café before golf: mugwort latte, crack salt bread at Grid Cafe
In short
Grid Cafe is a salt bread and egg tart bakery café at 1F, 146 Macheon-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul. Before heading out to golf with friends, the writer snacked at Grid Cafe on a mugwort latte, a Greek blueberry smoothie, crack salt bread, an egg tart and a cheese tart. On a chilly day the mugwort latte was warming, and the crisp-outside, soft-inside crack salt bread and vanilla bean-scented tarts stood out. Grid Cafe is a worthy Songpa bakery-tour stop, best visited after checking when the bread comes out.

Today I came for dessert at Grid Cafe, a hidden gem for salt bread and egg tarts among Songpa cafés, and a really great stop for a Songpa bread tour.

Where is Grid Cafe in Songpa and what are its hours?
Grid Cafe is on the first floor at 146 Macheon-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, and it is open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM (last order 5:30 PM). Takeout, delivery and simple mobile payment all work too.
Among the hidden salt bread spots in Songpa, Grid Cafe is one that deserves a place on your bread tour~ The shop sits right by the road, so it was easy to find. Even the exterior, with its wood tones and cozy feel, looked like a hidden neighborhood bakery.

The bread times are posted right at the front door, and maybe that's why people started gathering one by one just as the bread came out!!

Grid Cafe interior and seating
The inside of Grid Cafe is a clean wood tone, a really comfortable space that wraps around you warmly. And the smell of bread hit me the moment I walked in. My mouth was watering!

Grid Cafe has a nice variety of seating, from tables for 2 to tables for 4, plus a cozy bar table with a window view. The overall vibe was lovely, and it was so clean and pleasant~~ I can never walk past a big mirror, so I took one shot, a bit scruffy though!!

What breads and drinks does Grid Cafe serve?
The bread showcase you see as soon as you walk into Grid Cafe held salt bread, egg tarts, three other kinds of tarts, ciabatta, scones and more!

It's famous as a salt bread spot that's great for a Songpa bread tour, so today I ordered salt bread and tarts along with drinks. The drink menu is varied too, with coffee, non-coffee, lattes, ades, smoothies and more, which I loved.
- Mugwort latte
- Greek blueberry smoothie
- Egg & cheese tarts
- Crack salt bread

A pre-golf snack with friends at Grid Cafe
Today I was going golfing with friends and needed a snack beforehand, so I felt so glad we'd come to Grid Cafe in Songpa! A friend who loves salt bread picked up the crack salt bread, said the crisp-outside, moist-inside texture was exactly her thing, and was dying to dig in!!
The prettily colored mugwort latte and the blueberry smoothie made with Greek yogurt were especially different and delicious!!

What does Grid Cafe's mugwort latte taste like?
The mugwort latte at Grid Cafe came with pretty latte art! The sweetness with a gentle mugwort aroma was, personally, just perfect!! On a day when it suddenly turned cold, it was so nice to drink something warm.

Is Grid Cafe's crack salt bread worth it?
The crack salt bread at Grid Cafe was crisp outside and moist inside, honestly just so delicious. We ate it with two kinds of tarts, a worthy Songpa bread tour set, and the tarts had a lovely soft, wobbly look. The layered crack salt bread was a true craftsman's work, a proper Songpa salt bread spot!!

Egg tart and cheese tart at Grid Cafe
The egg tart and cheese tart at Grid Cafe sell out as soon as they come out, so I fully agree this is an egg tart hotspot!! The egg tart had a soft, wobbly texture that slid down smoothly, a sugar-charging sweet treat, and the cheese tart was just as plain-in-a-good-way and richly nutty!!

One bite and my eyes popped open!! It suited my taste perfectly. The inner filling was very soft, and even the crisp, flaky layers of pastry carried a vanilla bean aroma, so both the egg tart and cheese tart felt luxurious and full of flavor, wrapping around my mouth!!

Grid Cafe tip: check the bread baking times
Before you go to Grid Cafe, be sure!! to check the bread times posted at the door. After we ate and chatted for a while, my eyes went back to the timetable on the way out, and I kept glancing at it~~ I think timing your visit would be so good!!
