I found this jokbal place by chance while out near Euljiro 1-ga Station. No break time and open until 3 a.m., so it's easy to drop in whenever you like! With such generous hours, it seems perfect for a relaxed meal, and for a group dinner too.

Is Miss Jokbal big enough for a group dinner?

The restaurant is split over the 1st and 2nd floors, and both floors were spacious. It's just right if you want roomy seating.

I came after the peak hours, and both floors were still full, so it's clearly popular. Best of all, both floors have big, cool floor-to-ceiling windows, so it feels open and you can enjoy a view while you eat. The hall is wide and comfortable, so I'd recommend it for company dinners or group get-togethers!

What does Miss Jokbal serve besides jokbal?

The menu at Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch covers the main jokbal and bossam plus a variety of side dishes to share. The lunch specials are great value, so I imagine they're popular with office workers nearby. Lunch, a group dinner or a late-night meal, it seems like a satisfying choice any time.

As you'd expect from a dinner spot near Euljiro, the menu was sooo long. It's a jokbal place, but they also sell yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) and gamjajeon (potato pancake) alongside the jokbal and bossam, and there were loads of lunch options like soft tofu stew, gukbap (rice soup) and a makguksu (buckwheat noodle) set.

What comes with the Emperor Jokbal spread?

The Emperor Jokbal (황제족발, Hwangje Jokbal) at Miss Jokbal comes with jokbal piled high in the middle of a huge plate, surrounded by side dishes like pickles, kimchi kalguksu (kimchi noodle soup), cheongsachae (cold-noodle-style vegetable salad), tofu kimchi, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) and gimbap (seaweed rice roll). The jokbal I'd been waiting for finally arrived! Doesn't it look generous even just in the photo?

The whole Emperor Jokbal spread filled a giant plate, with a variety of accompaniments arranged nicely around the jokbal. At many jokbal places the jokbal and side dishes come separately, so I found it impressive that Miss Jokbal serves so many dishes together, beautifully arranged, on one big plate. It looks generous at a glance, so it's even better when several people share.

A Myeongdong jokbal restaurant to take foreign friends to

You get to taste a good range of Korean food, like pickles, kimchi kalguksu, cheongsachae, tofu kimchi, japchae and gimbap, so I think it would be great to bring a foreign friend here.

Look how glossy the jokbal is! The jokbal in the middle had a nice balance of lean meat and skin, and the shiny skin looked especially appetizing. Jokbal is a dish where you enjoy tender meat and chewy skin together, right? Add your choice of sauce, like saeujeot (salted shrimp) or mala sauce, and you get even more flavors.

If you're looking for a Myeongdong restaurant for foreign visitors, being able to try this many Korean dishes in one place is another plus, isn't it?

What complimentary side dishes come at Miss Jokbal?

Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch serves fresh vegetables and a variety of side dishes and sauces as standard. The complimentary spread impressed me! It looked like nothing you usually see at a jokbal place, which surprised me.

The vegetables were piled generously and were enough to whet the appetite, and the taste was clean and good. The side dishes and sauces came in a huge variety too! A fresh vegetable dish came out to eat alongside, too!! It's good for eating something light before the meat, and eaten in a wrap it was refreshing and cut the greasiness completely, so I kept going.

How does the jokbal at Miss Jokbal taste?

The jokbal at Miss Jokbal was tender with no gamey smell, with chewy skin and moist lean meat. As a jokbal specialist, this was the dish I was most curious about!! The color was lovely from the start, so I was really looking forward to the taste. The portion was quite generous.

The moment I put it in my mouth I was amazed by how soft and tender it was. There was no gamey smell at all, just a nutty richness with a faint, mellow sweetness that I loved.

The main jokbal, the side dishes and the complimentary dishes started arriving one by one. So generous!! The meat was thick, soft, free of any odor and chewy!! Really delicious. I wrapped it in lettuce and stuffed my mouth, and I also piled kimchi onto the salad that came with it and dug in.

Even the lean parts, which tend to be dry, were moist and tender, so I happily cleaned up right down to the last piece.

Free kimchi kalguksu you cook at the table

Miss Jokbal even gives you kimchi kalguksu for free, and since you boil it yourself, it stays hot and tastes even better. The spicy, refreshing broth with chewy noodles was a perfect pairing with the jokbal.

Jokbal and bossam are greasy, so it was thoughtful that the soup was a kimchi and bean sprout broth, and they went well together! Still, I wanted to eat lots of meat, so I only had a little of the kalguksu haha.

Jokbal boiled in 3 to 5 batches a day

Maybe because they boil it fresh every day, the flavor was really good. I heard they prepare it in 3 to 5 batches a day, and thanks to that effort, it seems you can get that just-boiled best taste whenever you visit. Above all, the skin was chewy while the lean meat was so tender it melted in my mouth. Definitely a jokbal place I'd vouch for!

I asked for extra chili peppers and garlic, and eating it with the dried radish strip side dish and the salad made it really filling.

Who is Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch best for?

I'd recommend Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch to anyone near Euljiro 1-ga and Myeongdong stations looking for a group dinner or a meal with foreign friends. You can eat tasty jokbal and bossam at any hour, which makes it a good Euljiro and Myeongdong spot for a company dinner. It was really crowded from lunchtime!
