Indian lunch in Sejong: chicken curry on a warmer at Bombay Brew

In short

Bombay Brew is an Indian restaurant on Saeromjungang-ro in Sejong, run by Indian chefs and staff. Trying Indian food in Sejong for the first time, the writer ordered the Delhi Set for 2 at lunch: chicken salad, blueberry and mango lassi, chicken curry kept hot on a copper warmer, butter naan and rice. With friendly service, a green-toned room with floor-to-ceiling windows and authentic flavors that suit Korean tastes, Bombay Brew is worth a return visit whenever a curry craving hits.

I had never eaten curry in Sejong, so I finally went to try my first Indian restaurant here. Bombay Brew (봄베이브로이) is run directly by Indian chefs and staff, so it's an Indian restaurant where you can really taste authentic local flavor!

What did I order for lunch at Bombay Brew?

I ordered the Delhi Set (DELHI SET) for 2. For the curry I went with chicken curry, popular and never a miss, and for the naan, rich and nutty butter naan. Done! I sat down and read the menu cover to cover, and there was a huge variety, from lunch sets to à la carte curries and classic naan. The Delhi Set looked great on both value and composition, so I picked it.

There are other sets too~ Just choose according to how many people you are.

What are the atmosphere and service like at Bombay Brew?

The restaurant has full window walls, so it feels wonderfully open, and after I ordered, a staff member very kindly poured our water for us. I felt treated like a guest, which was a lovely way to start.

Delhi Set chicken salad and lassi

With the Delhi Set, the chicken salad is served first to whet your appetite before the mains. Tender tandoori chicken is piled generously over crisp lettuce, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn and olives, and it tasted fresh and healthy. The ingredients were really fresh, too.

It paired perfectly with lassi, the sweet-and-sour traditional Indian drink, in pink and yellow. (I chose blueberry, my companion chose mango.)

That salad is totally my style.

Chicken curry served on a warmer at Bombay Brew

Another charm of Bombay Brew is that, so the curry doesn't go cold, they set up an elegant copper vessel with a mini candle (warmer) lit. The bubbling chicken curry is placed on top, and at a glance it looked rich and smooth, full of flavor.

Huge butter naan and rice

Next came the freshly baked butter naan. I was surprised first by how big it was, and again by the glossy sheen on its surface. The faint scent of butter hit my nose and I could not resist.

Kyaa... it's been how long since I had curry, haha. This naan is what I missed most. Happiness really does come from carbs 😃

Rice comes out too.

How did the chicken curry taste?

The chicken curry at Bombay Brew suited Korean tastes perfectly while keeping the deep, authentic flavor intact. I took a big spoonful and it was packed with thick, tender chicken, and when I tore off a piece of butter naan and dunked it generously in the rich curry, I thought, "Wow, I instantly get why people raved about how delicious this is!"

Is the Delhi Set for 2 enough food?

You look at the Delhi Set and wonder, will this fill me up? But as you eat, you get really full, haha. I was full from just one naan.

The curry was so good that I wolfed down the rice too.

Why I recommend Bombay Brew

Bombay Brew's biggest strength is that Indian chefs and staff handle both the cooking and the serving, so even in Korea you can experience genuine local flavor and atmosphere. It goes down easily for Korean tastes, yet its characteristic depth of flavor and exotic feel are fully alive. Everyone was so kind, and the food was perfect, so I was happy the whole meal.

I was touched by the attentive, friendly service, like pouring our water for us from the moment we walked in, and the clean, green atmosphere seen through the window walls adds to the enjoyment of the meal. From the salad and lassi to the rich chicken curry on the fiery warmer and the chewy butter naan, the lineup is perfect, so I strongly recommend it for a date or a get-together. If you want proper, authentic Indian curry and naan, it's a definite recommendation, and since I was fully satisfied with both the food and service, I'll definitely come back whenever I crave curry!
