Handmade burger drive-thru in Jamsil with maple buns: Maple Burger DT

Maple Burger DT is a Canadian-style handmade burger drive-thru on the first floor of the Hyundai Jamsil Self-Service Gas Station at 397 Songpa-daero in Songpa, Seoul. The writer tried the Beef & Shrimp Burger (13,000 won), the Whole Shrimp Burger (9,000 won) and the Chili Meat Fries (7,900 won); the whole-shrimp patty and the maple bun stood out, and Maple Burger DT's dedicated pickup parking made collecting the order easy. Maple Burger DT is a great Jamsil burger spot for ordering ahead and picking up on the way home from work.

Mangpo Station dessert café for a solo break after errands: Hongrad

Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch is a dessert café on the 4th floor of the Nonghyup building near Exit 6 of Mangpo Station in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. After finishing errands in Suwon, the writer stopped at Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch alone, sat on a sofa seat and had a matcha latte, a Hongrad Brownie and the Ex-Boyfriend Toast. Even for someone who rarely visits chain cafés, Hongrad won them over with its space, desserts and comfortable seating, making it a solo café they wish would open in Seoul too.

Oreo bingsu truck on a no-game transfer stop at Jamsil: Bingdongdaeng

Bingdongdaeng is a bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert) food truck in the Outfield Ticket Gate 1 food truck area of Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Songpa, Seoul. While transferring at Sports Complex Station, the writer followed the stadium's cheering and tried Bingdongdaeng's ₩14,500 choco Oreo bingsu, Station's cream shrimp nachos, and Pretty Fox Hot Dog's hot bar-b-q hot dog with chipotle fries. Verdict: the three Jamsil Baseball Stadium food trucks are worth a stop even if you aren't going to the game.

Solo pollock naengmyeon + grill set at a Jamsil gukbap spot: Boseung

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (rice soup) and sundae (Korean blood sausage) restaurant on Ogeum-ro in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul, that also serves mul naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon and pollock naengmyeon as summer seasonal dishes. On a solo weekday lunch, the writer had the pollock naengmyeon + flame-grilled pork set (₩14,000) and a sundae plate (₩7,000), and liked the sweet, slightly spicy pollock topping, the smoky grilled meat and the three kinds of sundae with no off-odor. Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a gukbap restaurant, but it is well worth a visit for a solo cold noodle lunch in summer.

On the way home from errands in Yeouido, the writer picked up the 25,000 won Hyeonseonine Combo Set (tteokbokki, sundae, assorted fries, mini gimbap and fish cake) in the basic mild flavor and shared it with family, enjoying the sweet-spicy broth, fries that stayed crispy all the way home and chewy glutinous-rice sundae (Korean blood sausage). For a snack set gentle enough that even spice-shy eaters spoon up the broth, the Hyeonseonine Combo Set to go is a good choice.
