Magok Korean BBQ date: aged and marinated brisket at Chadol Grill
In short
Chadol Grill Magok is a charcoal-grilled beef brisket (chadolbaegi) restaurant on the first floor of GMG Tower, near Exit 3 of Magok Station in Gangseo, Seoul. To celebrate some good news on a Friday evening, a couple ordered 2 portions of aged brisket, 1 portion of marinated brisket and a chadol doenjang (brisket soybean paste stew), and the nutty aged slices and bulgogi-like marinated ones kept each other from getting tiresome. At Chadol Grill Magok, order the aged and marinated brisket together and finish with the chadol doenjang.

After our date, haha, we had good news to celebrate, so we went for meat!!! We ended up at Chadol Grill Magok (차돌그릴 마곡) near Magok Station~~ I feel like a good occasion only really counts as a celebration if you eat something delicious, haha. We wondered what to have, just the two of us, and naturally landed on meat ~~~!

From Exit 3 of Magok Station, walk about 50 m along Magok Street and you'll see the GMG Tower building. Go a little further and it's on the left! It might sound confusing when I just describe it, but the route is simple once you're there, so it wasn't hard to find, haha. It's not far from Magok Station, so it was easy to walk over naturally after our date~!

What we ordered at Chadol Grill Magok for two
For the two of us we ordered 2 aged brisket (₩17,000 each) + 1 marinated brisket (₩18,000) + chadol doenjang stew (₩7,000). Getting aged and marinated together let us enjoy both flavors, which I think was a great choice, haha! You should order both too, both are delicious.
- Aged brisket (숙성차돌박이) ₩17,000 × 2
- Marinated brisket ₩18,000 × 1
- Chadol doenjang stew (soybean paste stew with brisket) ₩7,000

The atmosphere on a Friday evening
The inside of Chadol Grill Magok was clean, and since it was a Friday evening it was packed with company dinner groups and families. It really seems to be a famous spot for work dinners near Magok Station. Seeing all ages come here, it must be a proven place, right?!! They say lots of YouTubers and influencers have visited too, haha. The lively scene of everyone grilling meat together in the buzzing room was great. Total Friday-night vibes~~

Side dishes and the charcoal
For side dishes, Chadol Grill Magok gives you white kimchi + mustard leaf kimchi + pickled garlic! They also bring salt and onion soy sauce.

Oh, and lettuce too, haha. With wrap vegetables as well, it felt generous even before the meat arrived!! Then the charcoal comes out, and the fire was really strong, so the meat cooked fast, and the staff kept an eye on the heat so grilling was no trouble~~ Brisket cooks quickly anyway, haha.

How the aged brisket tasted
Look at that glowing meat... haha

The aged brisket at Chadol Grill Magok was nutty and rich, yet clean with no gamey smell. The color alone made the look stand out when it arrived. The marbling was tightly packed, and you could tell at a glance it was a quality cut, haha. Like this!! Grilled up, I don't even need to tell you how it tastes~! Nutty and rich!! The flavor that filled my mouth the moment I put a slice in was really good. It was clean with no off smell at all but still deep, and the more I chewed, the nuttier it got hehe.

It was good with the fresh lettuce salad (겉절이) and good with the mustard leaf kimchi too!! The kimchi's sharp tang balanced the richness of the brisket, so I could keep eating without feeling greasy, haha.
How is marinated brisket different from aged?
The marinated brisket at Chadol Grill Magok tasted a bit like bulgogi??? It had a different charm from the aged one. The marinade soaked in just right, so it was salty-sweet with great savoriness. Alternating between aged and marinated meant I never got tired of it and enjoyed it to the end! So I recommend ordering them together~~~

Finishing with the chadol doenjang stew
The chadol doenjang stew (₩7,000) at Chadol Grill Magok is packed with brisket and well worth ordering. If you're Korean, of course... you have to order it... haha! The brisket fat soaks into the broth, so it was both earthy and nutty in flavor, haha. Finishing with the stew and rice after the meat left me properly full yet comfortable~! You've got to have your carbs...
Who Chadol Grill Magok suits
Fresh, good-quality meat, generous side dishes, and chadol doenjang stew to finish, all in one place! I think it's great for marking a happy day and just as easy for a regular date!! The space is big and clean too, so I'd recommend it for company dinners or group gatherings near Magok Station, haha. It's also a good Magok dinner spot for families, so everyone should stop by!
