Ilsan soy crab all-you-can-eat worth five-plus return visits: Deodeo

If you're looking for a great soy sauce crab (ganjang gejang) place in Ilsan, please read this before you go ‼️ I've paid for more than 5 visits here myself, and every time I'm surprised by the value and then won over again by the taste, so I keep going back and back... This weekend I had a craving again and drove out for it.

This has to count as a real top spot, right?! Today I'll explain why I keep coming back to this place.

Parking lot and atmosphere

First, there's a big parking lot in front of the restaurant, so no parking worries, which I liked. On the front door you can see a dense cluster of Blue Ribbon certification stickers. Can you even imagine how good it must be,,?

It looks like they've appeared on TV several times before.

Inside, the tables are spacious, so you can eat comfortably. I'd usually gone late in the evening after work, when seats were easy to get, but this time I came on a weekend after a long gap and almost every seat was full, even though it wasn't a mealtime..!

Menu and prices: ₩24,900 per person for the all-you-can-eat set

The menu is split into a one-crab set meal and an all-you-can-eat set. The set with unlimited soy sauce crab, spicy marinated crab and even crab stew is only ₩24,900 per person!!!!! Prices are so high these days that a single coffee is almost ₩10,000, so this value is crazy,,right?! I've seen places that refill either soy sauce crab or spicy crab, but places that refill both are really. truly. rare. Since you're here, I recommend the all-you-can-eat set.

When you order the all-you-can-eat set, a full table spread appears in no time like this. Usually you have to pay extra for steamed egg or ramyeon noodles, right? But here it's all free,,,🫶 Even the crab's best partner, flying fish roe, is unlimited!!!

Is the soy sauce crab full of meat?

Unlike the usual all-you-can-eat crab quality, you can see it's packed with meat, right?! Press the body firmly with your hand and you've got soy sauce crab bibimbap (mixed rice) in no time.

Mix it with the fish roe or wrap it in gim (roasted seaweed) and it's amazing 🤤

Spicy marinated crab, crab stew and side dishes

This spicy marinated crab has a sweet-and-spicy sauce that totally wins you over, and above all the crab stew is refreshingly clean-tasting. And there are plump whole crabs right in the stew!! Side dishes include seaweed stems, cucumber kimchi, bean sprouts and radish kimchi, and they're mild, so they did a great job refreshing my palate(?). I really love cucumber kimchi anyway, so I ate it diligently haha.

I really love mixing rice in the crab shell, and that day I ate to my heart's content, ahh..

How was the quality of the refilled crab?

This is the refill quality. At most all-you-can-eat places, the first crab and the refill crab differ so much in quality that I often can't eat the refill, you know? Here, the only difference is whether there are chopped green onions on top. The refilled crab was fresh and so delicious too.

I put ramyeon noodles into the crab stew and enjoyed it all over again.

Verdict: why I keep going back more than five times

One reason I keep coming back is the mild seasoning. At other soy sauce crab restaurants it's often so salty that one bowl of rice isn't enough. Here I definitely got the impression that it's less salty. Maybe because the seasoning is lighter, the natural crab flavor comes through more, and I never got tired of it even after eating a lot. The spicy marinated crab is spicy but not too harsh, so it was perfect to alternate between the two kinds.

If you're looking for a good soy sauce crab restaurant in Ilsan, I recommend Deodeo Ganjanggejang. I've already been more than five times and I'll keep going. Soy sauce crab plus spicy crab, even crab stew, all unlimited with a variety of side dishes, for ₩24,900 per person!!! It's a place where you can eat your fill without any burden. The crab being fresh, full of meat and less salty was the biggest reason I return. If you're torn about soy sauce crab around Ilsan, definitely give it a visit!
