Seodaemun bakery maple and pretzel takeaway: Mandong Jegwa
In short
Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch is a bakery in Seodaemun, Seoul, for taking home a wide range of breads. I sampled and brought home tortilla bread, bacon ciabatta, a pretzel, and maple bread. Verdict: a very successful bakery crawl with flavor and texture beyond expectations!

I’m here to share my takeaway review from Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch, a place no bread-loving bakery-crawler could possibly not know about 🥖 I’d only heard people rave about how good it was, and I finally got to go—my excitement was through the roof before I even arrived!

Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch exterior and first impressions

Even from a distance, that nutty, sweet buttery aroma swept right past my nose, so I spotted it immediately without getting lost.

The exterior alone, visible from outside, was so stylish and neat that it was completely my taste before I even stepped in.
An interior filled with the smell of bread

The bread displays were kept so clean and hygienic, without a speck of dust.

Looking around this bread-scented space somehow put me in an even better mood—it was magic 💕 You know Mandong Jegwa is a truly great spot with a branch in Gangneung as well as Yeonnam-dong, right?! You absolutely have to try the mocha, garlic baguette, and maple here.
The breads I chose from the display case

I grabbed a tray and tongs and started seriously scanning the bread case, and every single thing looked absolutely insane ㅠㅠ It was packed with glossy, gorgeous breads, and I stood there forever with the worst decision paralysis haha. After much deliberation, I packed up the popular pretzel, tortilla bread, maple bread, and bacon ciabatta. The staff wrapped each bread so neatly and hygienically that I was pure happiness all the way out 🎁
How the takeaway breads tasted

They also sell rusk to take away.

You can eat your bread at a nearby café.

A proof photo is essential, of course~!

While you’re choosing bread, the staff keep offering samples >< You can try them one by one and choose your own pick!!

A filling tortilla bread
Tortilla bread: It looked filling from the start, and the combination of ingredients inside was amazing from the very first bite!

The savory, umami-packed sauce went so well with the texture that it was perfect as a snack when I was peckish or as a simple meal substitute.

Bacon ciabatta
Bacon ciabatta: This hit my taste right on the mark. Salty bacon joins the ciabatta’s fluffy yet chewy crumb, and the balance of sweet, salty, and nutty flavors is unreal. Its clean, understated flavor comes through more with every bite, making it a perfect taste I could never get tired of.

Pretzel with an Americano
Pretzel: The outside is nicely salty, then a clean, nutty flavor comes rushing in as you chew. Its distinctive chewy-crisp texture is fantastic, and its flavor opens up more with every bite, making it dangerously moreish with an Americano ☕️

Sweet maple bread
Maple: The moment I opened the takeaway bag, a sweet maple fragrance spread through the room—totally healing ㅠㅠ The bread layers are fluffy and simply melt away in your mouth. It has an elegant sweetness that never gets tiring; what a little gem. Every bread’s flavor and texture exceeded my expectations, filling my mouth with small, everyday happiness while I ate. If you’re heading around Yeonnam-dong or looking for a truly good bakery, please stop by and make your bakery crawl a success! 🍞✨
