Dongseong-ro curry restaurant oriental pasta lunch: Rama & Babana
In short
Rama & Babana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is an Indian curry restaurant on the second floor of the Tongsin-gol alley in Dongseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu. Arriving with my parents for a late lunch close to 2pm, the three of us shared chicken curry, garlic butter naan, nasi goreng, oriental pasta and two lassis for a total of 61,000 won. Alternating between the spicy chicken curry and the clam-broth oriental pasta was the best part of the meal, and my father liked the nasi goreng most.

I went to Daegu with my parents and stopped by Rama & Babana Dongseong-ro Main Branch for a late lunch. It's a place I go to whenever I'm craving Indian curry, but it had been a while since my last visit!
We got there close to 2pm, and more than half the tables were already full. Quite a lot of people eating even at that late lunch hour!

Inside Rama & Babana: interior and seating

Rama & Babana is located on the Tongsin-gol alley side of Dongseong-ro. The space felt clean but with a slightly exotic touch.

Even though it's an Indian restaurant, it doesn't feel overly exotic or intimidating — it's comfortable for a casual meal. Seating is mostly 2-seat and 4-seat tables, so it works well whether you're with friends or, like us, with your parents!
We visited close to 2pm, a late lunch hour, and I was surprised more than half the tables were already full...!
They're also running a Naver receipt review event, so it might be worth joining.

- Oriental pasta ₩16,000

Ordering rice and pasta alongside the curry made for a perfect amount to share among the three of us!
Spicy chicken curry with garlic butter naan
Since I came craving Indian curry, we started with the chicken curry. Even though it had been a while, it was just as delicious and spicy as I remembered!

The mild curry base with added spice went great with rice. It's subtly spicy, but the kind of flavor that keeps pulling you back for more!

Since the curry has some heat, it went great with the pasta too, and wrapping it in the garlic butter naan we ordered made it even better! Highly recommend that combo.
Nasi goreng, my father's favorite dish of the meal

The dish that got the best reaction from this meal was the nasi goreng.
My dad tried it and said it was the best one, and basically ate the whole thing himself haha. I loved it too — it's loaded with cheese!

When I eat with my parents, it's not just about what I enjoy — seeing them enjoy the food makes me feel unexpectedly proud and happy! If you're visiting with a group, ordering something shareable like the nasi goreng is a great idea.
Oriental pasta: the clam broth you end up spooning up

The oriental pasta is a clam-broth pasta.
Unlike a typical cream or tomato pasta, it comes with broth, which felt refreshingly different.

Since the chicken curry is quite spicy, a spoonful of the pasta broth really softened the heat. Curry, then pasta broth, then curry again! Alternating like this turned out to be a surprisingly great combo!
Pineapple lassi and mango lassi at Rama & Babana
You can't have Indian curry without lassi!

We ordered a pineapple lassi and a mango lassi to share with my parents. Sweet and smooth, they went perfectly with the spicy curry.
Why this late lunch with my parents was worth it

My first visit to Rama & Babana in a while! Unlike going solo or with friends, sharing a bunch of dishes with my parents brought a different kind of joy this time. Seeing my dad enjoy the nasi goreng so much made me happy too!
If you're in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, and craving something a bit different from usual, or looking for a comfortable place to eat with your parents, Rama & Babana could be a good option. I'll be back next time I'm craving Indian curry!
