In short

Garu Seonsaeng Drink-It Raw Soy Milk Choco (Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae 타먹는 생두유 초코) is a powdered chocolate soy milk made from just four ingredients: 46.5% Korean soybeans, 18% cocoa powder, unrefined raw sugar and sea salt. Mixing 2 scoops (30g) of the powder with 180ml of water gave a clean, light chocolate drink, while the same 30g in 180ml of milk came out closer to a thick chocolate latte. With 129kcal, 5.3g sugar and 6.2g protein per 30g serving, Garu Seonsaeng Choco suits anyone who finds ordinary chocolate drinks too sweet.

Package of Garusunsaeng drink-it raw soy milk chocolate powder

Garuseonsaeng Seoritae's drink-it raw soy milk in chocolate flavor — which tastes better, mixed with water or milk?

I love chocolate drinks but always hesitate because they're too sweet. A lot of them have a strong artificial flavoring taste, and once you check the ingredients or sugar content, it's hard to reach for them. Then I discovered this powdered soy milk, Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Taameoneun Saengduyu Choco, which is made with real chocolate ingredients and unrefined raw sugar. The basic recipe is to mix the choco powder with water, but I also tried it with milk to compare the difference directly.

What is Garu Seonsaeng Drink-It Raw Soy Milk Choco?

The best-before date is 12 months from manufacture, and the one I received was good until 2027.05.18. It says to keep it sealed in a cool place away from direct sunlight.

How to mix Garu Seonsaeng Choco: scoops, water and milk

Making it is super simple!! Step 1, put 2 scoops in a cup using the included spoon.

Two scoops of chocolate soy milk powder in a cup

Step 2, pour in 180ml of water or milk. The standard package ratio is 2 spoons (30g) to 180ml of water. You can make it cold or hot.

Step 3, stir with a spoon for about 30 seconds. At first there's some powder floating on top, but it dissolves quickly as you stir.

It's a powdered soy milk, but it dissolves well even in cold water, so it seems fine for mixing quickly in the morning when you're in a rush. Give the bottom one more stir at the end so you get an even drink to the last sip.

Water or milk: which is better for chocolate soy milk powder?

Water vs milk

Having tried both, here's how it goes.

A cup of chocolate soy milk mixed with water

Mixed with 180ml water

  • Taste: natural soy milk flavor + chocolate
  • Sweetness: mellow, clean feel
  • Best for: breakfast substitute, when you want something light
A cup of rich chocolate latte-like drink mixed with milk
Milk

Mixed with 180ml milk

  • Taste: nuttier, closer to a rich chocolate latte
  • Sweetness: chocolate flavor is more intense
  • Best for: afternoon snack, when you want it to taste like chocolate milk, kids' snacks

With water it goes down light like a chocolate drink; with milk it's rich and nutty like a chocolate latte. My personal preference is milk, but for calories, water is way better — mixed with water the powder itself is only 129kcal, so you can drink it guilt-free.

How Garu Seonsaeng Choco actually tastes

Tasting the chocolate soy milk mixed with water
Water

If you're expecting a sweet chocolate milk, you might find this a bit different. It's not an artificial sweetness — it feels like real soy milk flavor with chocolate added.

If you like really sweet things, this might taste a bit plain. But the upside is you get to enjoy a mellow chocolate flavor while still watching your health ~~

Recommended age label of 1 year and up with the chocolate soy milk drink

Since the recommended age is 1 year and up, families with kids can use it as a children's snack too. Since it's a powder, you can use it not just as a drink but also in place of cocoa powder for hot chocolate, chocolate lattes, baking, and desserts!!

Who is this chocolate soy milk powder for?

Finished cup of chocolate soy milk with the Garusunsaeng pouch

I think this would satisfy anyone who found the overly sweet chocolate drinks on the market too much, or anyone who wants to eat healthy without giving up chocolate flavor. It dissolves well in both water and milk, so you can pick whichever suits your taste. The clean sweetness seems like something people of all ages would enjoy! I've been drinking soy milk daily while trying to conceive, and I think it'd be nice to enjoy it in chocolate flavor like this every once in a while haha.
