Suwon bagel café repeat visit: mocha bun and soda ade, Orange Bagel

Today my partner and I went back to Orange Bagel, a Suwon bagel spot we love — I think this is our 6th or 7th visit at this point. There are just days off when you crave something plain and bready like a bagel, you know? Haha, that's when we tend to go. It's also famous as one of the large cafés in Suwon, so it's a great date course too.

What does Orange Bagel look like, and how is parking?

Orange Bagel's exterior is a red-brick building that gives off a foreign kind of feel — genuinely a large café that's hard to find elsewhere in Suwon. It's two stories, and their cute mascot Kevin is painted on the wall.

Since it's a large café, the parking lot is large too, so there's no worry about parking even if you drive. If you take the subway you'll have to walk a bit, but the bus is convenient!

Inside the first floor: bagel display and goods zone

As soon as we walked in, the place was full of the smell of fresh baking. The bagels were lined up looking gorgeous. I always end up agonizing over what to get whenever I come — I tell myself I should try something new, but somehow I keep picking up the ones I already know are good, hahaha.

Orange Bagel also has a goods zone on the 1st floor, with cute Kevin merchandise — t-shirts, stickers, keyrings and more to browse. We bought a bagel keyring here before, and it's still hanging on our car keys, haha.

Which orange drink at Orange Bagel is worth ordering?

Since it's Orange Bagel, the drink menu had a variety of coffees and drinks using orange. I've tried several of the orange drinks, and the Orange Bianco, made with genuinely fresh-squeezed orange juice, was refreshing and sweet — really good. The orange Americano felt a bit like an ashatchu (soju-and-Yakult style mixed drink) vibe, but with orange instead of peach. I'm an ashatchu person! If you like refreshing and sweet drinks, try their signature menu, haha.

After several visits, which Orange Bagel bagels taste best?

I've tried quite a range of the bagels here. Among them, the chocolate bagel and blueberry bagel were good, and my partner's number one pick is the sandwich-style bagel with crab and shrimp inside. I forgot to take a photo of it, but I always get it whenever we come, and it's really tasty. Egg mayo is also great for a filling meal — since we came today as a lunch substitute, I picked up an egg mayo bagel.

In the refrigerated corner there's jambon and salmon bagel, plus cream cheese in various kinds. I'd already tried the jambon, and the salmon was one I'd always been curious about, so I finally tried it this time, haha. It feels like I'm going through every single Orange Bagel menu item one by one, hahaha.

Chocolate bagel, rice bagel, blueberry, scallion cream cheese, double cream, pretzel, ang-butter (sweet red bean and butter), fig, and more — the variety is huge. I really like Lun x Mu bagels, and this place is just as good, so I feel like they're two peaks of Suwon bagels. It's not far from Seoul, so if you're looking for a café near Seoul, come here on a drive, haha.

What is the second-floor seating like?

After ordering our bagels, we went upstairs. The 2nd floor has an amazing range of spacious seating. The space feels divided into several themed zones, with group tables and window seats, so you can sit wherever suits you. Since there's group seating, it's good for meetups too — plenty big enough to call itself a large bakery café in Suwon.

Here's what we ate today. The bagels themselves aren't chewy in a tough way — they're chewy in a good, tasty way. It felt like healing through a relaxed holiday morning; the mood was so mellow and quiet, and it's really great as a date course too. I've visited more than 5 times with my partner alone, haha.

Salmon bagel with scallion cream

The salmon bagel has scallion cream and salmon along with vegetables like onion and what seemed like lettuce. The salmon was chunky and thick, and the scallion cream — surprisingly — matched it perfectly. The salmon and scallion cream combo was genuinely delicious.

Egg mayo, mocha bun and orange bagel

We picked up an egg mayo bagel, a mocha-bun-style bagel, an orange bagel, and the laugen bagel I'd had my eye on. Egg mayo — well, what's there to say! It's that classic flavor everyone knows, and it was great with tons of egg mayo packed in. The orange bagel had, I think, orange zest in it — a not-too-much hint of citrusy freshness. The mocha bun had a softer texture than the other bagels, unlike a typical bagel — it genuinely felt like eating an actual mocha bun rather than a bagel. Sweet with a fragrant coffee scent, it was delicious!!

The surprise favorite: laugen bagel with butter and salt

There was one bagel that surprised me by being genuinely great — the laugen bagel. I already like pretzel-type things, so I like laugen in general, but this one was chewy with that distinct pretzel character, and it paired amazingly with the gourmet butter on top. Between the fragrance of the gourmet butter and the light dusting of salt, it hit that buttery-salty sweet spot that kept my hand going back for more — a bewitching bagel, highly, highly recommended. I'll definitely get it again next time.

The new soda ade and an iced americano

I already knew the Americano was good, but the new soda-ade — which reminded me of the Suwon Samsung Bluewings colors — was sweet and had that exact Ppongtta (a strawberry-marshmallow candy) flavor!!! It was refreshingly fizzy, perfect for a hot day. They served the iced Americano in a tumbler, so the ice didn't melt and I could drink it strong all the way to the end, which I loved even more. I'm officially calling this a great Suwon coffee spot, haha.

Who will enjoy Orange Bagel in Suwon?

Orange Bagel, a Suwon bagel favorite with a large bakery café that has a foreign, exotic vibe, is great as a date course, but the bagels are genuinely good too, so anyone looking for a bakery in Suwon should check it out. I hope this reaches anyone searching for places to visit in Gyeonggi-do too. The staff are kind, there's a huge variety of bread, and the prices are reasonable, not outrageously expensive, haha. With the rooftop too, it's a great large Suwon café to visit in this cool weather these days — why not stop by over the upcoming holiday? Haha.
