Daily Fix Hannam is a handmade burger shop in Gourmet 494, the basement food hall of Nine One Hannam in Yongsan, Seoul. A family of three ordered the classic burger, double cheese burger and triple mushroom burger, plus jalapeño bacon rolls through a Naver review event; the three burgers each tasted different, and none was too strongly seasoned for a child. Mapo Korean BBQ, 500-hour aged sirloin while pregnant: Moyeon Mapo

Hapjeong Station café with a strawberry-note Geisha drip: Central Site

Central Site Hapjeong is a roastery café in a side alley near Exit 2 of Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul, and the second branch after the Yeonnam-dong original. The writer, who usually prefers lattes, ordered the Colombia Finca Quebraditas Geisha washed drip and a classic tiramisu, and the strawberry flavor was so vivid that her husband asked whether it was flavored coffee. Drip coffee at Central Site Hapjeong costs ₩8,000–12,000, which is on the pricey side, but it is a great Hapjeong Station café for a day when you need one really good cup.

Beef BBQ in Cheongju Dongnam after the Daejeon Bread Festival: Yugi

Yugi Dongnam District Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Dongnam District, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju, serving Suwon wang galbi (marinated short ribs) and beef short rib. Family café after Gwangneung Arboretum in Pocheon: Geurine Oasis

Geurine Oasis is a café in front of Gomori Reservoir in Soheul-eup, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, a short trip from Gwangneung Arboretum and easy to add to a family day out. The writer ordered a strawberry latte, a café latte and an americano at the Geurine Oasis kiosk (drinks about ₩6,000s to ₩7,900). The writer relaxed at widely spaced outdoor tables with a reservoir view and noted a fire pit that costs about ₩9,000 extra. Geurine Oasis is a solid pick near Gwangneung Arboretum for an easygoing outdoor break by the water with family or friends.

Even "less spicy" was hot for a spice-shy couple, but the adjustable heat, a kids' option and generous side dishes make Ttoksuni Agujjim an easy monkfish stew stop for families with children.

Ttukseom burger spot with a preschooler: Bas Burger mushroom set

Bas Burger Seongsu (바스버거 성수점) is a handmade burger restaurant a 3-minute walk from Ttukseom Station in Seongdong, Seoul, between Seoul Forest and Seongsu's trendy spots. After a weekend outing to Seoul Forest, the writer visited Bas Burger Seongsu with a preschool-age child and ordered a mushroom burger set, the Bas Burger, a kids burger, a ₩3,000 chili cheese mozza bar and beer, along with unlimited chips, soda refills and a free craft beer tasting. Bas Burger Seongsu has no high chairs, but its kids burger makes it a good family restaurant for children of preschool age and up.
