Where is the Kkankkanhan Jokbal main branch in Gwangju?
Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch is on Cheomdanjungang-ro 116beon-gil in Wolgye-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. I used to order Kkankkanhan for my mom all the time when getting her jokbal, but while searching this time I found out there was an actual main branch, so I decided to go check it out in person.
Since I'd only ever had it delivered, I was curious what the main branch would feel like — turns out there are way more chain locations than I expected. 😳
This time I decided to actually eat at the main branch.

They stay open as usual even during Chuseok holiday, just so you know haha.
Is there parking at Kkankkanhan Jokbal in Wolgye-dong?
Having parking available was really convenient. The Cheomdan restaurant strip can be tricky to find parking in, with pretty complicated alleyways.
The store has its own dedicated lot, so I could visit without worrying about parking!
Looked like it could fit about 4–5 cars haha.
What the Kkankkanhan Jokbal main branch looks like inside and out
The store is big and the sign really stands out, so even on my first visit it was easy to find.
One side of the store lets you see the jokbal being made from outside.
You could watch the cooking process through the window, which was fun, and I liked being able to see how the food is actually made haha.
There were also outdoor tables out front. Looked like people used them for a smoke or a quick break after eating.
From the moment I walked in until I left, it was full the whole time haha. Customers kept coming in during our meal and the place stayed packed.
It really felt like a genuine local favorite. The inside was so busy and I'm a bit shy, so I didn't manage to take any interior photos.
Extra-large half-and-half jokbal and bossam with large makguksu: a table for four
At Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch we ordered the extra-large half-and-half jokbal bossam, a large makguksu, and steamed egg, and it was just right for four people. This is the basic table setting haha. They also brought out doenjang soup to go with the meal.
We ordered the half-and-half jokbal bossam, extra-large size. It was perfect for four people.
This is the large makguksu. My mom really loves Kkankkanhan's makguksu haha.
The steamed egg was so good we ended up ordering another round later haha.
There was a huge amount of bossam kimchi — the kind of flavor that kept us reaching back for more haha. A real kimchi standout haha.
My dad and sibling both ate really well too. They said jokbal goes so well with drinks, and the soju kept flowing haha.
Thanks to that, it turned into a great evening for the family — good jokbal and a nice drink together.
Prize-draw event and arcade machine at Kkankkanhan Jokbal
There was also a gachapon-style prize draw event going on. Wonder what we'd get??
Oh, I pulled a ₩10,000 voucher usable at Kkankkanhan. Not all branches accept it, but it works at the Suwan, Cheomdan, and Yongbong branches — I'm going to give it to my sister who lives in Yongbong-dong.
There was even a 'love-luck' yakgwa (honey cookie) and a cure-all medicine prize haha, cracked me up.
Outside the store there was also an arcade machine. If you're not quite ready to leave after eating, a quick round could be fun.
These little touches made it seem like a genuinely fun spot to visit with family haha.
Free dessert: ice cream and coffee
After the meal, ice cream was ready for us too. A sweet finish after jokbal was such a nice touch — felt like they really took care of dessert too.
My sibling tried the ice cream and said the cookies and cream flavor was pretty good, and ate it up happily haha.
There was coffee ready too — looked like Starbucks beans.
Seeing this really made it hit home that I was in Gwangju — the Gwangju dialect written here is so cute haha.
From parking to dessert, everything was so easy — Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch was just right for a family dinner out. Would visit again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
