Suwon cake café at 8 PM: sold-out parfaits, fig Montang cake at Diaz

I hadn't been to Ingye-dong in Suwon for a while, and it felt a shame to just go straight home. Since I was already out, I looked for a café where I could have coffee and something sweet, and ended up at Diaz Cake Boutique (디아즈케이크부띠끄), which is known as a great cake spot. It's a boutique-style café, so the mood is different from your average café.

Diaz Cake Boutique is on the 2nd floor at 48-7 Ingye-ro 166beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea, about a 452 m walk from Exit 9 of City Hall Station. It's open 10:00-18:00 on weekdays and 10:00-21:00 on weekends, and for parking you'll need to use a nearby paid lot.

What is the interior of Diaz Cake Boutique like?

Inside, Diaz Cake Boutique has that boutique-style elegance, yet the whole place felt clean and tidy. The boutique concept can easily look flashy, but it never felt over the top.

Even the dishes and props used to serve the cake are designed to recall classic European antique tableware, which fits the boutique concept really well.

There's also a photo zone for taking pictures!!

Comfortable, private seating that's good for dates

Personally, I tend to avoid cafés with hard chairs, but the seats at Diaz Cake Boutique were comfortable, so staying a long time was no problem!!! The layout is also private enough that you don't really notice other people's eyes, so it suits couples who want a quiet date for two.

The blue inner space and window-side tables

Going further inside Diaz Cake Boutique, the decor gets even more boutique-like. The calm yet refined feel of the blue color 💙 really comes through in the space, and it makes the café's character stand out even more.

The tables by the open windows let you enjoy your coffee while looking outside without feeling stuffy, so on a nice day I think it'd be lovely to sit here and take your time.

Diaz Cake Boutique offers everything from coffee and various drinks to cakes, tiramisu and scones. Diaz is famous in Suwon as a cake spot, so my expectations for the desserts were high.

Will cakes and parfaits still be available at 8 PM?

When I got to Diaz Cake Boutique around 8 PM, I couldn't order the fig parfait or the peach parfait, which were the whole reason for my visit. Maybe because I came late, the ingredients had sold out, sadly 😭

The cakes were also down to just the fig cake and the chocolate cream cake. It's known as a cake place, so visiting late meant there weren't many choices. Next time I want to come a little earlier and definitely try the parfaits I was curious about.... 🥺

Fig Montang slice cake and peach oolong tea: how they taste

Putting my disappointment aside, I ordered the fig Montang slice cake (Montang means "lots of" or "all in") from what was left. It was evening, so coffee felt a bit heavy, and I ordered a peach oolong tea instead. The peach oolong had a subtle peach aroma with the clean finish typical of oolong. Perfect to go with a sweet fig cake....!

True to its name, the fig Montang cake honestly has a lot of figs in it, haha. The figs were really sweet and melted softly in my mouth..... The gentle, appealing sweetness went so well with the soft cake. If they'd had stock, I would have ordered another one....... I enjoyed it right down to the last bite.

Diaz Cake Boutique: my thoughts after visiting

Diaz Cake Boutique is a famous café in Suwon...🎂 I'd been thinking "I should go one day" for ages, and I finally made it. I was sad I couldn't have the fig parfait, but the fig Montang cake I ordered instead was better than I expected, so it more than made up for it!!!

If you're looking for a dessert spot in Suwon or a café near City Hall Station, I recommend Diaz Cake Boutique, known for its cakes. I think it would also be a nice place to pick out a special cake as a gift for someone precious on a special day 💙
