Dining Mihyang in Cheongju’s Dongnam district: location and atmosphere

I found out about a lovely place in Sangdang-gu, Cheongju, and went to check it out!! It was quality omakase without a huge price tag, so even someone just starting out in their career like me could enjoy it comfortably.
I took the bus! It was easy to find after a short walk from Undong Middle School.
It is tucked down an alley, so if you drive, I think you can park nearby.
The interior had the neat, orderly atmosphere you would expect from a Japanese restaurant.
There is bar seating too, so it would be comfortable even if you come to eat alone.

There were also several tables for four, so the space felt roomy.
How do you reserve the lunch omakase?
You need to make a reservation for omakase!! Lunch runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.! The reservation deposit is ₩20,000 per person.
My ₩35,000 lunch omakase menu review
The menu I ordered was the lunch omakase. It cost ₩35,000.

I heard it used to be ₩50,000, but they lowered the price while keeping the quality the same.

They also explained every dish and checked whether there was anything I could not eat before serving it!
The course included salad, an appetizer, three pieces of sashimi, an octopus dish, a salmon roll, three pieces of tuna, salmon tempura, three pieces of sushi, onion, shrimp, and mushroom tempura, naeng-memil (cold buckwheat noodles), and omija tea!! It was such a full lineup ♡♡ The dishes came out at my pace.

Salad and beet salmon appetizer
We started with salad to lightly wake up the appetite, followed by the appetizer.

I tried the beet and salmon together in one bite. You could taste the punch of wasabi too.

The bright flavor of the beet came through as well, really perking up my appetite.

Flounder and red sea bream sashimi, plus soy-based octopus
Next came three pieces of fresh sashimi. There was flounder and red sea bream.

I cannot remember what the last piece wasㅠㅠ I dipped it in the owner’s homemade soy sauce. It was fresh and delicious ( ◜𖥦◝ )

The next dish was tender octopus, flavored with a soy sauce base.

It was nice to eat the octopus with cucumber. The crisp texture went so well with it.
Salmon roll with yuzu sauce
Next came a salmon roll. Radish sprouts were wrapped in salmon and served with yuzu sauce.

The salmon and radish sprouts, with that refreshing yuzu sauce, were so delicious together.

Every dish and even every plate was beautifully presented, so it was fun to look at too.

Three pieces of tuna that melted in my mouth
Next were three pieces of tuna, each from a different cut. The tuna was seriously delicious.

I lightly dipped ginger in soy sauce and ate the tuna with it and radish sprouts.

As you would hope from a great omakase spot in Cheongju, the tuna was so soft it melted in my mouth. I really enjoyed it.

Salmon tempura, freshly made sushi, and cold soba
Next was salmon tempura. The batter was light and clean-tasting, which made it delicious.
The three pieces of sushi were made fresh and served right away, and they were honestly so, so good.

Next came assorted tempura, with onion, shrimp, and mushrooms all fried together.
The batter was tender and fried just right, making it easy to eat without feeling too heavy.
Last came the cold soba. I was really full by then, so I ended up eating it slowly. It felt like a portion that would leave even male diners satisfied.
They also served omija tea to finish. It felt like it gently settled my stomach!
Dining Mihyang lunch omakase: final thoughts
This lunch omakase was good from the lineup to the flavor. At ₩35,000, it does not feel burdensome, and I recommend Dining Mihyang if you are looking for a good omakase restaurant in Cheongju or a great place to eat in the Dongnam district.
