Cheongju Korean restaurant for kimchi udon: Haengbokhan Udon Gage
In short
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch is a Korean restaurant in Osong, Cheongju, Chungbuk. After work, our drained little group filled up on tofu kimchi spicy pork and kimchi udon. Verdict: a comforting choice when you need a hot, hearty dinner.

I was working out after work when it seemed like something had happened to Teacher Se-hyeon, so I rushed over to pick her up at Doosan We've...

The evening when we had to get something into her after work
Mr. Im was having a mental-health episode…… so I thought, “First, I need to feed her something…” and headed to Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch.
It wasn't like we went in with some grand plan to explore a truly amazing restaurant!! Se-hyeon was feeling depressed after work.. so we went hoping some delicious food would help her pull herself together ㅜ.ㅜ
When you live in Osong, “What should I eat for dinner today?” is surprisingly an everyday dilemma. Haengbokhan Udon Gage seemed like a solid place to eat after work because its menu is fairly varied. From udon to pork cutlet and hearty dishes such as spicy pork, it seemed like an easy, safe choice when looking for a good restaurant or a meal spot in Osong!

That day, we ordered tofu kimchi spicy pork and kimchi udon.

The tofu kimchi spicy pork was the tastiest thing, beyond expectations
First up, the tofu kimchi spicy pork. Honestly, it was the dish I expected the least from that day, and the one we enjoyed the most hahaha.
Tofu + kimchi + spicy pork is admittedly a combination that is harder to make bad than good, but the spicy pork and stir-fried kimchi here were more properly done than I expected. The spicy pork had just the right depth of seasoning—perfect with rice. Then you add warm, soft tofu and stir-fried kimchi...

That was it. From the moment I put a piece of spicy pork on the tofu, the stress that had built up on the way home from work started melting away hahaha.
When I order tofu kimchi, I get a little disappointed if the kimchi is too sour or, on the other hand, blandly seasoned. Here, having the spicy pork with it made it noticeably heartier and tastier.

It felt a bit like a rice side dish and a bit like something to have with drinks; above all, it hit exactly the bold flavor that hungry office workers need.

Hot and pleasantly spicy kimchi udon
And the kimchi udon we ordered alongside it! True to the name Haengbokhan Udon Gage, the udon was good too.
I debated ordering plain udon, but choosing kimchi udon was absolutely right for a day like that. One sip of the hot broth and I thought, “Ah... I can live again now,” hahaha.
With kimchi in it, the broth was pleasantly spicy and refreshing, so taking a spoonful now and then while eating the tofu kimchi spicy pork worked really well. For some reason, when I'm tired after work, I crave this kind of hot, lightly spicy broth so badly, and the kimchi udon did exactly that. Slurp up the noodles, have some broth, then put tofu on the spicy pork and eat...

Eating like this, both Teacher Im Se-hyeon and I eventually found everything funny. Delicious dinner really is important for office workers' mental health...
Overall, Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch felt less like somewhere to visit with a big special-occasion plan and more like an Osong meal spot that would come to mind when I wanted an easy, delicious dinner after work. There are lots of menu options, so even a group could each choose what they want.

Next time, I want to try the pork cutlet too
This time we had tofu kimchi spicy pork and kimchi udon, but there are pork cutlet options too, so I want to try one next time. If you work in Osong or are looking for a hearty meal near Osong Station, it is worth a visit!
I especially recommend it for days when you crave a hot broth dish like udon, or when you need a proper rice meal like spicy pork.

In conclusion, Teacher Im Se-hyeon and I went in after work with barely a soul left in us, then came out having somewhat regained human form after tofu kimchi spicy pork + kimchi udon hahaha. We walked in without much thought, but it was way more delicious than expected, so I was satisfied.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good restaurant in Osong or near Osong Station, or an Osong meal spot for a hearty post-work dinner. Next time, I need to take on the pork cutlet menu too.

Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch had already done its job by saving two exhausted office workers after work.
