In short
Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, specializing in braised short ribs served in a large metal bowl. I paired level-2 spicy ribs with rice balls, steamed egg, seafood potato pancake, and ramen noodles, while the staff removed the bones for us. It had been so long since I’d had spicy braised short ribs that I was really craving them, so after looking around, I visited Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch (신촌양푼이 서면본점). The photos on Naver showed braised short ribs piled generously into a big metal bowl, and they looked so delicious that they made my mouth water just from looking at them haha. So I went right away without a second thought.

Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch sits tucked inside an alley in Seomyeon. A large standing sign says that Sinchon Yangpuni Galbijjim is inside the alley, so getting in was not difficult.

Once you head farther in, the large Sinchon Yangpuni Galbijjim specialty restaurant sign comes into view, so it is easy to find.

A welcoming old-school barbecue restaurant atmosphere
The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere that felt like an old-school Korean barbecue place. Stainless-steel tables were set up with gas burners, and the walls displayed the menu and tips for enjoying the food.

There were quite a few table seats, making it a comfortable setting to chat with friends over something spicy.

What we ordered with the braised short ribs
The menu centers on Yangpuni galbijjim (braised short ribs in a large metal bowl), with a range of sides including seafood potato pancake, steamed egg, rice balls, and fried rice.

You can choose the spice level for the braised short ribs, and ordering is done by QR code.

Two servings of Yangpuni galbijjim / ramen noodles / seafood potato pancake / steamed egg / rice balls

The basic side dishes included muk (acorn jelly), pickled onions, and soup. It was a little unusual to get soup too, and I wondered if it was meant to settle your stomach before eating the spicy ribs haha.

Level-2 spicy Yangpuni braised short ribs
After a short wait, the Yangpuni braised short ribs arrived topped generously with bean sprouts and green onions. It looked like quite a lot, so I checked the menu again and saw that one serving was listed as 250 g.
The staff member also removed all the rib bones for us, so we could eat comfortably without getting our hands messy.
We ordered the level-2 spice, which was a little spicier than Shin Ramyun. It was not just hot—it was deliciously spicy, so I kept reaching for it with my chopsticks. Seriously, one bite led to another, and before I knew it, I was digging in like crazy haha.

Trying it with perilla leaves and rice balls
I also followed the tasty-eating instructions written on the wall. I wrapped ribs in perilla leaves and placed the braised ribs over rice balls; both combinations worked so well.

The rice balls were not just seaweed—they also had vegetables in them, and you make them yourself at the table. They paired nicely with the spicy ribs and mellowed the heat a little, which I loved.

The steamed egg was soft yet springy, so it was perfect for tempering the spice too. One bite of braised ribs, one bite of steamed egg—I just kept eating.

Crispy seafood potato pancake and ramen noodles
And this is an absolute must-order: the seafood potato pancake! It looked crispy in the photos, but it was even crispier in person.
There were shrimp pieces to bite into here and there, which gave it a great texture, and lightly dipping it in the braised-rib broth gave it a different flavor that kept me reaching for more.

Lastly, we added ramen noodles, and of course they could not possibly taste bad in spicy braised-rib broth haha. The broth soaked right into the noodles, and the spicy bowl gave us a proper carb refill.
I came because I had been craving spicy braised short ribs for ages, and I am glad I found this great Seomyeon spot. The ribs were generous, the staff removed the bones so we could eat easily, and with rice balls, steamed egg, seafood potato pancake, and ramen noodles, it made for a seriously filling meal. I’m about to burst~~!! If you love spicy braised short ribs in particular, I think this is a place worth trying at least once :)
