I love meat too, but I'm a seafood person, so I often eat octopus and jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) dishes. I heard there's a special jjukkumi restaurant in Chungung-dong, Hanam — the kind of place worth a 30-minute wait, apparently.

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a Hanam jjukkumi restaurant known for beautiful scenery, good prices, and jjukkumi that's apparently not your typical version, so I went to try it myself. Today I'll tell you about my visit to this Hanam jjukkumi restaurant.

Where is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch, and is there parking?

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is at 5 Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open Monday to Sunday, 11:00–21:00, closed every Thursday. There's a large parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so parking is never a worry.

Large parking lot and entrance road in front of the Hanam main branch

Go a little way off the main road and you'll find a pretty garden restaurant tucked into a small forest. It was nice having a big lot right out front so I didn't have to worry about parking.

Beside the building, under the shade of a big tree, there are outdoor tables where you can chat over tea after your meal. I imagine it gets even more atmospheric in the evening once the string lights come on.

With a white standalone building set against a green garden, this Hanam jjukkumi restaurant made a really upscale first impression. Takeout perilla-oil jjukkumi is ₩10,000 per serving — quite the deal these days.

Inside Jigueseo On Jjukkumi: photo zone, dessert corner, group seating

At the entrance to Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch, animal figures greeted us first and honestly made my heart skip a little haha. There are chairs set up there too, which seems to be the photo zone. It'd probably be a hit with kids on a family outing.

On the right as you walk in is the dessert corner — after your meal you can enjoy brewed coffee, instant coffee, and even ice cream. There's also a hand towel and a spot to wash up. From the meal to dessert, everything was on point.

Write a receipt review and you can get Han River ramyeon. Give it a try if you're up for it — we skipped it since we were already full, but I'm planning to try it next time. There are several kinds of ramyeon to choose from too.

This is the rich 100% domestic perilla oil that comes with the perilla-oil jjukkumi hotpot rice set. The domestic perilla seeds and oil on display aren't for sale — just for show.

The restaurant was named an outstanding business in the food service category of the 2024 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation. Nice to know you can eat here with confidence.

Interior of the right-side hall with group seating

On the right as you enter is a separate hall with group seating. It seems like a good fit for family meals, work gatherings, or any kind of group get-together.

Inside the group-seating hall there's a small room, available to reserve with a minimum of 8 people.

To the left of the kitchen is the other hall. The interior was cute and nicely decorated. The place felt clean, quiet, and cozy — like being at a café. There are also baby chairs available, so it's a good spot for a family meal.

We ordered two servings of the Banggan perilla-oil jjukkumi hotpot rice set and a Sprite.

After ordering, the side dishes arrived — so neatly arranged and appetizing.

The japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) was moist and delicious, the salad fresh and crunchy, the pollack roe firm and plump, the jellyfish salad tangy with a nice mustard kick, and the kimchi cool, clean, and tasty — all the side dishes were well-seasoned, which made everything even better.

Full spread of the perilla-oil jjukkumi hotpot rice set

Perilla-oil jjukkumi hotpot rice set — ₩13,000

Two giraffes outside the window quietly watched us eat. It felt oddly like dining at a zoo, in a new kind of way.

With the perilla-oil jjukkumi, seaweed soup, and hotpot rice all together, the spread looked hearty and impressive.

Clam and seaweed soup, hotpot rice, and the scorched rice at the end

The seaweed soup with clams had a deep broth and soft seaweed. Eating it alongside the perilla-oil jjukkumi fried rice made for a really tasty combo.

Stone-pot rice normally costs ₩2,000 extra, but it's included in the perilla-oil jjukkumi set at this Hanam jjukkumi restaurant. On top of the rice were sweet pumpkin, black beans, and jujube. When they scooped the rice and poured water in, the water came out reddish — not totally sure, but it looked like gyeolmyeongja (cassia seed) tea. After the meal we finished off with hearty scorched rice and sungnyung (scorched rice tea).

Your own bottle of Korean perilla oil instead of radish salad

This is the Banggan perilla-oil jjukkumi set. The jjukkumi pieces were big and the sauce soaked in nicely — chewy and delicious.

When you order the signature perilla-oil jjukkumi set at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi, they give each person their own bottle of perilla oil pressed from 100% domestic perilla seeds. I gave it a little sniff and the nutty aroma was strong. The color was clear and just so pretty.

They put the sliced stir-fried jjukkumi on top of the rice and drizzled a bit of perilla oil evenly over it. Unlike other jjukkumi stir-fry places, here they use perilla oil instead of radish salad or bean sprouts, so you get a jjukkumi stir-fry full of perilla aroma.

The first bite was a little spicy, but after a couple more bites, it turned into more of a 'delicious spicy' than an actual burn. It wasn't too salty and the jjukkumi wasn't tough, which I liked — eating it with that perilla aroma somehow reminded me of family. The sauce was so good I scraped the bowl clean.

I topped my bibimbap with pollack roe and kimchi and dug in happily 😋

Then washed it all down with a cool Sprite~~~

Free dessert coffee and ice cream, plus the 10-stamp takeout reward

After the meal, my husband got coffee and I got soft-serve ice cream, and we sat at the outdoor tables outside chatting for a while.

They stamp your card each time you eat there. Collect 10 stamps and they'll pack two servings of jjukkumi for you to take home.

With its great atmosphere, clean restaurant, tasty food, and a genuinely kind owner couple, it was a comfortable, happy lunch. If you're curious about the new-style flavor of the perilla-oil jjukkumi set, visit Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch in Hanam. You'll get to enjoy a delicious jjukkumi stir-fry full of perilla oil aroma.
