Siheung charcoal BBQ: marbled pork set and naengmyeon, Ssosam 208

My husband and I wanted to eat Korean BBQ around Siheung Baegot, so I looked up good spots in the area. Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch kept coming up as famous for charcoal pre-grilling, so we went to check it out :)

Apparently the tastiest grilling temperature is 208 degrees, which is where the name Ssosam 208 comes from — a confident name, so I went in with high expectations ..!

The restaurant is really spacious, so it looked great for a work dinner too 😊 Seeing how packed it gets at peak hours, this place has clearly already built a reputation as a Siheung Baegot favorite.

We ordered the marbled pork belly basic set at Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch. Once we ordered, the table setting came out neatly arranged. Seasoned bean sprouts, mountain leek, kimchi, seasoned chives, plus salt, ssamjang, and minced garlic — the side dishes were so well-rounded that I was excited even before the meat arrived ^^

Charcoal pre-grilling: staff grill and cut the pork at your table

What's great about Ssosam 208 is that a staff member grills everything for you personally. They pre-cook the meat over charcoal, then cut it into easy-to-eat pieces right at the table, so all you have to do is sit back and eat 👍

True to its name, the marbled pork belly basic set had beautifully marbled meat sizzling away on the grill — the sight alone was mouthwatering.

How does the Handon marbled pork taste?

I picked up a piece of the marbled pork belly basic set right when it was cooked perfectly, and it was genuinely delicious ..! Thanks to the charcoal pre-grilling, the meat had a subtle smoky aroma, and as the marbling melted, the juices spread all through my mouth.

The outside was slightly crispy and the inside stayed soft and tender, so dipping it lightly in salt really brought out the natural flavor of the meat. My husband kept saying, "The meat here is really good," and wouldn't put the tongs down, waiting eagerly for the next batch to grill haha. This Siheung Baegot favorite, Ssosam 208, really does pre-grilled meat differently.

Finishing the meal with mul naengmyeon

After finishing the meat, we ordered water naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), and the cool broth with chewy noodles cleanly cleared out my mouth after all that spicy, savory meat :) The marbled pork belly basic set followed by water naengmyeon was the perfect finish at Ssosam 208, a Siheung Baegot favorite. Since they grilled everything for us, all we had to do was eat — a completely hassle-free meal ^^
