When you're wondering what to eat in Baegot New Town, hearty Western food is the first thing that comes to mind, right? I was craving hamburg steak and pork cutlet today, so I headed to Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch (정씨함박 배곧점) with high expectations!

I went in thinking it was just a plain hamburg steak place, but when I opened the menu, there was everything from pork cutlet to pasta, fried rice, and side dishes. Perfect for going with a group and ordering a bunch of things to share.

What's the vibe inside?

When I opened the door and walked in, the interior was way more spacious and neatly arranged than I expected.

The interior was clean and the tables were spaced comfortably, making the atmosphere really relaxing. It's perfect for a family dinner out together, or for a casual meal with a friend.
Seeing plenty of baby chairs set up on one side of the restaurant, I thought parents with young kids would have no trouble coming here to eat with their children!

At the self-bar, you can refill side dishes and utensils. Overall the place was really clean, which I loved.
Menu at Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch

Various kinds of hamburg steak, and

pasta, pork cutlet, fried rice,

and a really wide range of side menu items too.
What did we order?

I was staring at the menu, torn because there was so much I wanted to try, so I decided to order a bit of everything to taste as much as possible.
- Toowoomba hamburg steak
- Cheese pork cutlet (+spicy sauce added)
- Half-and-half croquette
- Chicken tender

A Del Monte water bottle that goes so well with the retro tables! They really commit to the concept.. Jeongssi Hambak! The complimentary tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) comes with one free refill. So so good, it's a tteokbokki hotspot 👍
Toowoomba hamburg steak

The toowoomba hamburg steak.. that sauce is seriously something else! Usually when you think hamburg steak, you picture sweet demi-glace sauce, right? I ordered this one because the toowoomba sauce version seemed unique!

But the toowoomba hamburg steak here has a thick, slightly spicy toowoomba sauce that blends perfectly with the juicy patty — genuinely a standout dish.

It cut through the richness completely and brought out the soft, meaty flavor even more, so I never got tired of it right up to the last bite.
Cheese pork cutlet + spicy sauce

Cheese pork cutlet + spicy sauce — you really have to add this one!

The cheese pork cutlet is crispy outside, and inside the cheese stretches out into long, gooey strands — an explosion of savory flavor.

The real masterstroke was adding the spicy sauce! Dipping the rich, savory cheese pork cutlet into the spicy sauce cut through the richness perfectly — the combination was pure art.

Once you take a bite of cheese pork cutlet dipped in spicy sauce, you can't stop!
Half-and-half croquette & chicken tender

Half-and-half croquette and chicken tender — sides we would've regretted skipping. It felt like just the mains alone would've been a shame, so we added the half-and-half croquette and chicken tender as sides, and the table got so much more abundant, which just made me happy to look at.

The croquettes were crispy outside and soft inside, melting in your mouth! We ordered half shrimp potato and half vegetable croquette.

The chicken tender was crispy and never disappoints, no matter when you eat it. If you're visiting with a group, I recommend adding 1-2 side dishes to share!
