Every time I go to Seorae Village there are so many pretty cafés that I can never decide where to go. This time I visited Remangdore Seorae Village Branch (레망도레 서래마을점), which is known for its tasty bakery. It's famous for its Basque cheesecake, so I really wanted to try it, and I also ordered a salted chocolate egg tart and a sweet pumpkin cream cheese country loaf to try a bit of everything. I was happy with both the bread and the desserts, so I'd recommend this review to anyone looking for a café in Seorae Village.

Where is Remangdore Seorae Village Branch?
Remangdore Seorae Village Branch is at 9-3 Sapyeong-daero 26-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 1st floor. It's near Express Bus Terminal Station, Sinbanpo Station and Seorae Village, and it's a nice café for enjoying brunch, bakery items and desserts together.

What's the atmosphere like?
Remangdore Seorae Village Branch is a bakery café with wood-toned interiors and the warm smell of freshly baked bread. I felt that warmth the moment I walked in, and my feet just stopped on their own. The showcase was full of desserts and baked goods, and everything looked so tempting that choosing took me quite a while. Lots of guests were having brunch, and many others were enjoying desserts with coffee, so the relaxed mood really stood out.

How does the Basque cheesecake taste?
The Basque cheesecake at Remangdore Seorae Village Branch is deeply baked and nutty on the outside, and moist and dense inside. It was the thing I was most looking forward to, and after one bite I understood why it's so popular. The cheese flavor is rich but not overwhelming, and the moderate sweetness made it a great match for coffee. It wasn't too sweet, so I could enjoy it to the very last bite.
Definitely order the Basque cheesecake!

What does the salted chocolate egg tart taste like?
Remangdore's salted chocolate egg tart is a sweet-and-salty dessert: a crisp pastry shell filled with soft chocolate filling, with a gentle hint of salt. I ordered it alongside the cheesecake and was really satisfied. The mild saltiness seemed to bring out the sweetness even more. It isn't a dessert that's just sugary; the sweet-salty balance is good, so I kept reaching for more. Chocolate lovers will probably be very happy with it.

Is the sweet pumpkin cream cheese country loaf good as a meal bread?
Remangdore's sweet pumpkin cream cheese country loaf (시골빵, a rustic round loaf) has a plain, chewy bread packed with sweet pumpkin and cream cheese, so it works fine as a meal replacement. I ordered this bread along with the desserts. The cream cheese isn't overdone, so it lets the pumpkin flavor shine, and the bread itself was moist, so I enjoyed it to the end. It has a different charm from the sweet desserts.

Which desserts go best with coffee?
At Remangdore Seorae Village Branch, the Basque cheesecake with an Americano was an especially good pairing. The salted chocolate egg tart also tasted cleaner and less sweet with coffee. The quiet atmosphere is good for chatting, and it was also a satisfying place to spend a relaxed time alone.
