Chef Cho Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam is a dessert shop located a 1-minute walk from Exit 8 of Express Bus Terminal Station, featured on the 'Masters of Living' Cake Big Four segment. Besides fruit cakes, you'll find a variety of cakes including chocolate and pistachio. The Chef Cho store isn't actually inside Shinsegae Department Store itself — it's in the Sweet Park plaza on basement level 1 — so it's easiest to just follow Naver Map to get there.

The No.1 size is the biggest whole cake size, the mini size is a bit smaller than that, and then there are slice cakes too — quite a variety of options.

The fruit cakes change depending on the season. Right now they have strawberry-peach cream cake, mango cream cake, fig cream cake, chocolate strawberry cake, pistachio cake, and a dark chocolate forest cake with cherries.

It's not strawberry season, but we were having a party to celebrate my child recovering from gastroenteritis, so I bought the strawberry cake my kid loves. There were so many delicious-looking cakes I really agonized over it haha^^; Fruit quality definitely changes with the season, so I wanted to get the fig cake too, but I guess I'll just have to come back ♥

Cutting the Peach Berry No.1: inside and taste

The fruit is really generous and delicious-looking. Peaches piled high on top, with strawberries holding them up underneath^^ Definitely nice enough for a gift too~!

I couldn't just cut into it as-is, so I cleared off all the peaches first before slicing. Inside, there's no holding back on the peaches and strawberries either. The peaches have a slightly sweet-tart taste, and the strawberries are noticeably a bit lacking compared to peak season, but I guess that can't be helped ㅠㅠ There's no comparing to strawberries eaten in season, right?

But the fresh cream was genuinely soft and luxurious. And the sponge was so soft it just melts in your mouth! Personally, I think this is a real cake shop that pays attention even to the sponge :p

My kid got so excited seeing the strawberry cake they love~ This party had extra meaning since it was for my child's recovery! It's even better having a wonderful cake alongside an event with the people you love♥
