Daechang beef trio hot pot at a Yeongdeungpo bar: Yeokjeon

Hi, this is Uraeng-gaksi. My partner and I love drinking out, so today we went hunting for a good bar again 😎 Yeongdeungpo Station really is a hot spot these days — so many people, so many new places. We got pulled in, almost hypnotized, by the shiny entrance of Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo, a bar right by Yeongdeungpo Station :)

Where is Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo, and what are its hours?

Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo is on the 2nd floor. The moment we walked in, there were tons of people. There's seating further inside too, so it'd make a good spot for a Yeongdeungpo company dinner!

There are big screens both outside and inside :) The interior uses orange tents and stainless steel tables to give that street food-cart (pojangmacha) feel, which really amps up the drinking mood haha

Kiosk ordering and what the review event gets you

At Yeokjeon you order by kiosk. There's everything from signature dishes like gopchang hot pot and dak-doritang (spicy braised chicken) to side dishes like yukhoe (beef tartare), savory pancakes and canned yellow peaches. Staff bring over anything you flag down super quickly, so ordering was simple and convenient 😊

Join the review event and you get a free flying fish roe rice ball!! You can choose between the rice ball and fried rice, so it's a nice little perk worth grabbing @@ Plus, if you arrive before 7pm they'll give you tomato too — keep that in mind :)

Hanwoo gopmani hot pot, ₩30,900: beef belly, gopchang and daechang

Here's what we ordered. <Hanwoo gopmani hot pot> – ₩30,900 <Udon noodles> – ₩2,000

The gopmani hot pot is made with woo-samgyeop (beef belly) and gopchang (small intestine). True to its signature-dish status, it wasn't just meat — there were plenty of vegetables in there too, which we loved (❁´◡`❁) ✔ Choice of mild or spicy

I said it's made of woo-samgyeop and gopchang, so you might be wondering why there's daechang (large intestine) in there too haha. When we asked whether it was only gopchang, our sharp-eyed server told us they can mix in daechang to match the gopchang weight. So we ended up eating a beef trio 😍

The dipping sauces and perilla leaf wraps served alongside

This sauce comes with the hot pot, and if you dab a bit on and take a bite, it's a perfect match!! This sauce completely cuts through the richness.

Wrap the woo-samgyeop, daechang, and perilla leaf together and the perilla aroma bursts out — it's so good. Barely any greasiness, nice and chewy — I highly recommend the hanwoo gopmani hot pot at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha 🤩

It also goes great with rice. If you order the mild version, the spice level is exactly the pleasant kind. My partner, who can't handle spicy food well, ate it happily!

Finishing with ₩2,000 udon noodles instead of fried rice

We debated between fried rice and udon noodles, but since we were about to burst, we went with the simpler(?) option — udon.

The noodles were nice and springy, perfect for a second round of drinking snacks. If we'd ordered fried rice instead and skipped the udon, we would've regretted it haha

Why Yeokjeon Pojangmacha works for a Yeongdeungpo company dinner

Soju is only ₩3,900, everyone!!! And as a result of us drinking enthusiastically... (I'll skip the rest 😵)

We wandered into Yeokjeon while looking for a bar near Yeongdeungpo Station! Drink prices are gentle and the side dishes are varied, so it seems like a solid choice whether it's your first or second stop of the night. The vibe, the taste, and the service were all satisfying, and we ate well without spending much. If you like a slightly loud, lively atmosphere while drinking, head straight to Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo haha. If you're looking for a Yeongdeungpo group-dinner spot or a bar near Yeongdeungpo Station, I recommend Yeokjeon :)
