Teppan King, an izakaya close to Seomyeon Station! As the name suggests, this is a Seomyeon bar built around Japanese-style teppan grill dishes. Perfect for a light second round of drinks.
Where is Teppan King? Jungang-daero near Seomyeon Station, and where to park
Teppan King sits at 722-4 Jungang-daero, 1F, Busanjin-gu, Busan, South Korea, close to Seomyeon Station. There's no on-site parking, but a paid lot (Seorim Parking) is one minute away on foot. Open daily from 17:00 to 02:00.

Easy to find with navigation near Seomyeon Station. No parking on site as expected, but there's a paid lot a minute's walk away.

The big teppan grill you see right as you walk in is the standout feature of this Seomyeon bar. It was a weekday early visit so the place was empty, and I got lucky with a seat right at the grill! If you can, grab a bar seat facing the teppan — it makes the wait for food fly by, haha.

It's a small place, but the modest, cozy vibe actually suits it well. The izakaya snacks here feel like proper drinking food rather than a full meal, which makes it ideal for a second round.

Every table comes set with chopsticks, napkins, and cups. Wooden chopsticks fit the izakaya mood nicely, haha.

Sitting in front of a spotlessly clean grill made me eager to order and curious about the cooking process 😋

The set menus come at a discount, so I'd recommend ordering a set if you can. Drinks-wise, there's a solid range of highballs, soju, distilled spirits, and draft beer. Draft beer with okonomiyaki in particular wipes away any greasiness and you just keep going.
Special okonomiyaki, 15,000 won: cooked on the hot plate in front of you

What I ordered: the special okonomiyaki for ₩15,000 and the premium scallop and butter shrimp grill for ₩23,000.

The special okonomiyaki lives up to its name, packing squid, pork, and shrimp all in one dish. If you want everything and can't decide, this is the one to pick. Watching the whole cooking process on the grill made the wait fly by — it was actually fun to watch and gave us something to chat about.
A wholesome-looking okonomiyaki loaded with fresh toppings and plenty of cabbage 😋 The moment the sauce got drizzled on at the end was honestly a little thrilling. The chef's hands moved with such practiced ease that watching it made me confident it'd taste even better.

A light topping of bonito flakes to finish it off. The flakes curling in the heat looked so tasty 🤤

Cut into 6 pieces, easy to serve onto your own plate! The plating dish itself was pretty upscale too, which made the whole thing feel almost like a restaurant meal.

The sauce was applied just enough to avoid heaviness. It stayed right on that line, so even eating three pieces each felt light, not greasy. The chef seemed like a real hidden master, haha. The toppings were grilled just enough for the perfect texture. Being the special version really shows — the combo of squid, pork, and shrimp is fantastic. This is exactly why I'd recommend Teppan King as a Seomyeon bar 🤤
Premium scallop and butter shrimp grill, 23,000 won: a light dish that won't fill you up

Next up: scallop and shrimp butter grill. The name alone promises it can't miss, so I ordered it with high expectations. Since I'd already eaten dinner, this dish looked light and appealing. While the okonomiyaki was underway, another dish started cooking right next to it — bean sprouts as garnish (I asked if I could get more since I love bean sprouts, but was told it's just garnish, haha, a bit embarrassing).

Fresh, top-grade scallops and shrimp arrive! Seasoned lightly with just pepper, which makes it look even more delicious. The faint, savory scent of butter drifting up... hurry up and give it to me already (?)

The scallop shrimp butter grill arrived with restaurant-level plating again! The dish itself elevates the sense of quality, adding an extra layer of satisfaction to the eating experience.
A sweet and tangy sauce drizzled on top blended nicely with the savory aroma, making it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy.
The shrimp kept a lovely springy texture, and the scallops were pleasantly soft and moist. Among light snacks that won't fill you up, this might be the best one!

The whole time I was eating, I kept thinking this would be a great Seomyeon date spot.

The okonomiyaki was generously topped, so every bite felt a little different — sometimes mostly pork, sometimes mostly shrimp. That's the magic of the special version. More toppings, the better!

I scraped up every bit of garnish and sauce from the scallop shrimp butter grill. Its tangy, refreshing flavor paired really well with the okonomiyaki. The combo was good enough that it'd make sense as part of a set menu too.
Is Teppan King worth it? A Seomyeon spot for second rounds and dates

- Butter grill with springy shrimp and moist scallops
- Bar seating with a front-row view of the teppan cooking
