Yangyang café with takeaway drinks on an electric boat: Cafe Dunchi
In short
Cafe Dunchi is a waterfront café on Namdaecheon in Yangyang, Gangwon. I took mango smoothie and homemade pineapple-vinegar drinks onto both four- and six-person electric boats; the six-person boat felt steadier, while the four-person boat was more thrilling when turning. The café was spacious with ample parking, but the restroom was an outdoor public facility by the parking lot.

During a summer vacation in Gangwon, I stopped by Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치) on Namdaecheon in Yangyang. Taking takeaway drinks onto an electric boat, with the river breeze blowing, felt like sitting at a café all to ourselves.

Where is Cafe Dunchi, and what are the parking and restroom like?
Cafe Dunchi is a waterfront café on Namdaecheon at 295 Ilchul-ro in Yangyang-eup. There was a spacious parking lot in front of the café. However, there is no restroom inside, so you need to use the outdoor public restroom by the parking lot.

After crossing the bridge to enter, the first floor was for water leisure activities and the second floor was the café. The original post listed café hours as 10:00–21:00 and boat hours as 10:00–18:00.
What are the café seating and Namdaecheon views like?
From the café, I could see the sea, mountains, and Namdaecheon all at once. With scenery in every direction, it was also a nice place to sit and rest before or after taking the boat.

The café was spacious and had plenty of seats. It had a relaxed atmosphere for spending time while looking out over Namdaecheon.

There were drinks made with homemade syrups and homemade baked goods as well. We got a mango smoothie and homemade pineapple vinegar (hibiscus & rose) to take onto the electric boat.
What was the difference between the four- and six-person electric boats?
The water activities available here are electric boats and hwangpo dotbae (traditional yellow-sailed boats). I tried both the four- and six-person electric boats.

In my experience, the six-person boat felt steadier and more spacious. The four-person boat was the more thrilling option. If you are with a young child, the six-person boat may feel more comfortable.
Could we drink beverages while riding the four-person boat?

First, we put on life jackets and got on the boat.

There were spaces on the boat for holding drinks. We placed our takeaway drinks there and drank them while riding.

The boat rocked when it changed direction. The child riding with us was nervous at first, but their expression became much brighter as time passed.

From the river, I could see Cafe Dunchi, the departure point, and the distant East Sea. Other people were also spending time on Namdaecheon in electric boats.

What did the homemade pineapple vinegar ade taste like?
The homemade pineapple vinegar ade I drank was divisive because of its sourness. My husband said it was sour enough to jolt him awake and did not drink it, but I enjoyed it. If you like tart drinks such as Hongcho, it may suit your taste.
