These days doing a hoe-cknic — a picnic where you eat sashimi (hoe) — is trendy 😗 So I recently went to Garak Market to pack some sashimi to take to Jamsil Hangang Park, and I found such a great seafood market spot that I had to come introduce it!

Yeongjae Susan's menu has a wide variety of options, and sizes are divided into mini, small, medium, and large. It was easy to pick based on how many people you have.
The variety was huge and there were so many size options [mini, small, medium, large] that it was hard to choose 😵💫
Our target was fall's seasonal sashimi — gizzard shad!! It's been all over my algorithm lately 😵💫 So for this hoe-cknic we ordered the [jeon-gwang-yeon (gizzard shad, flounder, salmon) — small size]!
The packaging wasn't just a plastic bag — they neatly put everything in a cooler bag, which made it so much easier and more convenient to carry around..🥹

Looking at an assorted sashimi platter at Jamsil Hangang Park is truly beautiful.. Apparently Yeongjae Susan gets live fish delivered more than 3 times a day because of how much they sell! No wonder the seafood quality was so good 🤤
The takeout set comes with ssamjang, chogochujang, and soy sauce as basic sauces, plus pickled radish (rakkyo), ginger, and wasabi packed separately 😚
That shine is seriously the best..🫧 We ordered the small size but there was so much of it that no matter how much we ate, Yeongjae Susan's blessing just kept on coming 😭 <detail photos>
How does the sekkoshi-cut gizzard shad taste?
Yeongjae Susan's gizzard shad comes sekkoshi-style (bone-in, thin-sliced), so it was wonderfully crunchy. (Just be careful while eating!) Every piece of sashimi was so fresh that I kept gasping with every bite — I finally understood why gizzard shad is a fall specialty, because the fat really came through, making it nutty and clean-tasting at the same time!
It pairs amazingly with mala xiangguo, so definitely enjoy some xiangguo alongside it too..✨
Verdict and the best picnic spot at Jamsil Hangang Park
Apparently Yeongjae Susan won the Excellence Award in the sashimi category at the 2025 and 2026 Korea Consumer Industry Awards for food service. They even won an Excellence Award in the delivery category in 2026.. so they've basically swept every award in the sashimi category..🥹 No wonder they're always at the top when I browse delivery platforms!
A hoe-cknic is amazing in weather like this. I really recommend everyone pack some sashimi from Yeongjae Susan at Garak Market and have a picnic at Jamsil Hangang Park..🤍
✨Jamsil Hangang Park picnic spot and time recommendation✨ In weather like this, if you set up around 5pm near "1-1 Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, Jamsil Na들목 entrance," it's close to the delivery zone and the scenery is pretty, so you can enjoy a great picnic! (There's also a trash can nearby)
