Gwangju Hanam hair salon C-curl perm to tame layered-cut flyaways

After a recent layered cut, my hair got a lot easier to manage — but man, it was so flyaway. I don't even know how to blow-dry it properly. Even sitting at home, every time I glanced in the mirror I looked like some kind of runaway convict haha... it was bugging me so much I finally went and got a C-curl perm.

I went to Eco Revi Hair & Spa, a hair salon in Gwangju Hanam that avoids the 20 harmful ingredients flagged by the Hwahae ingredient checker.

It's next to Home Plus Gwangju Hanam, in the building between Daiso and Olive Young. Location is amazing. You can get your hair done and then swing by Olive Young and Daiso right after — so fun.

There's a lamb skewer restaurant on the 1st floor, and the salon is on the 2nd floor. You can park in the nearby public lot or on the street. (Street parking allowed 12:00–14:00 and after 18:00.)

Inside Eco Revi: salon atmosphere and the private consultation room

At Eco Revi Hair & Spa Gwangju Hanam Branch, they checked my reservation right at the entrance. I'd booked through the convenient Naver Reservation system.

Across from the counter there's a waiting area too, with drinks prepared for guests.

I arrived right at opening time and the salon was spotless! But soon customers started pouring in like crazy. It was surprising how busy it was for a weekday morning.

The styling chairs here are arranged in a U-shape along the walls, so you never lock eyes with other customers — I liked that. The spacing was generous too, so it felt really comfortable.

There's also a separate private room for head spa treatments. I heard the space is over 660 square meters — really impressive. Bigger really is better, right.

Before starting the treatment, they do a proper consultation — in this dedicated consultation room, filling out a chart about your usual scalp or hair

concerns. Based on that, they went on to consult about the treatment itself. They checked every detail thoroughly — loved it!

The C-curl perm step by step, from curl test to flat-iron finish

The C-curl perm went: shampoo → curl test → rod selection → heat treatment → flat iron to smooth the marks → neutralizing → blow-dry. I'd washed my hair the day before so it looked a bit calm, but no — because of the layered cut it had gotten lighter and was sticking out every which way, so I took a 'before' shot of the wild flyaways.

First, shampoo in the shampoo room. They put on a face cover and carefully checked the water temperature and made sure nothing was uncomfortable.

I sat down at the seat I was shown to.

They gave me a drink and a snack, so I munched away happily.

Before diving into the actual C-curl perm, they did a curl test first, since my hair had been magic straightened back in May,

so they could see how the curl actually turned out and decide the rod size accordingly. They sprayed on protein, did the heat treatment, then sprayed on more protein — spritz spritz.

After another shampoo, they applied heat protectant all over and lightly blow-dried while checking the curl condition.

When I asked about it, they confidently showed me the heat protectant — made by the Eco Revi brand itself, so it's also free of those 20 harmful ingredients. Plus, since the Gwangju Hanam branch is a directly-operated store, they only use Eco Revi's natural products, which really makes it a premium salon. Having gone through pregnancy and childbirth, I'm extra careful about ingredients these days, so this hair salon in Gwangju Hanam checked all my boxes.

They said if the front section got too tightly curled it could end up looking like a triangle kimbap, so they'd make the curls bigger up front and slightly smaller in the back. Can't have triangle-kimbap hair, haha.

They told me the heat treatment itself finishes quickly, but you have to wait for it to cool down, so I wasn't bored during the wait. I think they explained that in advance because you might otherwise wonder, 'I definitely heard the heat treatment finish — why hasn't anyone come back yet?' The attentive kindness was really nice.

After the heat treatment, they smoothed things out naturally with a flat iron. Apparently C-curl perms need a step to smooth out the rod marks. Then neutralizing, shampoo, blow-dry, and done!

How did the C-curl perm turn out after 2 hours?

The before-and-after difference is huge, right? The natural-looking C-curl perm I wanted, complete!

No damage at all — if anything my hair texture seems even better now. I love it. And on top of that, they finished it in just 2 hours.

This was Eco Revi Hair & Spa, a hair salon in Gwangju Hanam that pursues healthy, beautiful styling with nature-friendly products. The first-visit discount is generous and membership pricing is reasonable too. They offer late-night treatments and even late-night head spa, so it's convenient for office workers to visit. Most of all, it's a place where pregnant women, nursing mothers, and even children can get treatments with peace of mind, so I recommend it!
