Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch (모닥텍사스바베큐 동대구점) is a Texas barbecue restaurant near Dongdaegu Station, and I went for a late brunch on day two of our Daegu trip. This time we left the car at the hotel and got around Daegu by subway and bus, and we stopped at Modak, which has a name as a Dongdaegu Station restaurant!

They say Modak makes its barbecue in the 100% homemade, authentic Texas smoking style, trimming and aging carefully selected ingredients themselves. I think that's why it tastes so good!

The menu is varied too: barbecue like brisket, pulled pork and spare ribs, plus tomahawk steak, tenderloin steak, pasta and side dishes. The lunch menu is an even better deal, so I'd recommend it as a lunch spot near Dongdaegu Station.

Modak is within a 5-minute walk of the Dongdaegu Station transfer center and Shinsegae Department Store. It sits at the start of the Dongdaegu Station food alley, so it was easy to find even on a first visit.

What is the atmosphere at Modak Texas Barbecue like?

Modak is a Texas-style space where wood-toned interiors blend with the feel of barbecue being grilled. The atmosphere was the first thing I noticed the moment I walked in.

Overall, the wood tones and the barbecue-grilling vibe felt like traveling to a Texas I've only seen in movies. The mood is so good that it works for a date, or for enjoying barbecue with family and friends!

The lighting and the decorations here and there gave off a bit of that American Texas feeling. The tables weren't cramped, and there are seats for large groups, so it looked fine for a group gathering too.

What comes with the Texas Platter for two and the ravioli pasta?

What we ordered at Modak was the Texas Platter for two and the ravioli pasta. Before the meal, a tomato beef stew and nachos come out as a free basic service.

The tomato beef stew is a soup they simmer in-house, with meat, carrots, potatoes and vegetables all through it. It was a little spicy, and piled onto the nachos it was really good.

The Texas Platter for two comes with 150g of brisket, 150g of pulled pork and 3 buffalo wings, plus sides: three barbecue sauces, salad, coleslaw, french fries, pico de gallo and tortillas.
