I went looking for a good restaurant near Sunae Station in Bundang and found a jokbal (pork trotter) place called Wangchang Jokbal (왕창족발).
This place boiled its fresh, domestic pig trotters the same day, which made me even more excited to try this Sunae Station jokbal spot!

What Wangchang Jokbal feels like on a Monday at 6:30pm
Wangchang Jokbal's location near Sunae Station made it super accessible, and it felt like a convenient spot to stop by after work.

The interior was clean, so it looked like a fine choice for a company dinner or a get-together with friends — and there really were a lot of customers!!

I visited around 6:30pm on a Monday and was surprised the place was almost completely full even on a weekday. If it's this busy on a Monday evening, I can only imagine how packed it gets on weekends, haha.

Instead of feeling like an old, worn-in place, it had a clean, well-organized atmosphere that made a good first impression — the perfect spot to grab jokbal and a plate of makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) after work 💕
What comes with the large original jokbal: steamed egg and salted oysters
We ordered a large Wangchang Original Jokbal and jaengban makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles served on a platter).

I really liked the basic setup too. The side dish lineup matters more than you'd think at a jokbal restaurant, and here steamed egg came as standard, along with — get this — spicy salted oysters too!

The steamed egg was soft and easy to eat, and with the dried radish and salted oysters alongside, the whole jokbal spread felt even more substantial.
The salted oysters weren't a huge portion, but they were cool and spicy, which went great with the jokbal — and honestly delicious with plain rice too 😆

How does the jokbal taste? Lean meat versus skin
Wangchang Jokbal's jokbal came out faster than I expected, and the glossy sheen on it looked completely appetizing right away.
There was tender-looking lean meat alongside chewy skin, so it was fun picking whichever part suited my taste.
The jokbal itself was soft and completely clean-tasting with no gamey smell! Topping it with chives and dried radish added a tangy, spicy kick that made it even better, and wrapping it in lettuce with garlic and chili peppers made for a seriously filling bite.

When I asked for extra garlic and chili peppers midway through, they brought them out on the same plate with more salted oysters too — I was genuinely touched, haha. Little touches like that felt great, and it's the kind of detail anyone looking for jokbal near Sunae Station would appreciate!
Jaengban makguksu for 15,000 won: portion and flavour
Wangchang Jokbal's jaengban makguksu is 15,000 won, and the portion was quite generous.

It came with a bit of shaved ice, so it stayed nice and cold, and crunchy cucumber on top added good texture. The noodles were bouncy and chewy, as if rinsed in ice water, and the sauce was spicy and tangy, pairing really well with the jokbal.

Wrapping a bite of jokbal with the noodles cut through the richness completely and kept me reaching for more!
The jokbal itself was delicious, but the sides that came with it were solid too, making the whole meal satisfying whether as a drinking snack or a hearty dinner!
Is Wangchang Jokbal worth it for an after-work or group dinner near Sunae Station?
Wangchang Jokbal uses domestic pig trotters from Suwon Livestock Cooperative, certified HACCP by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, boiled fresh the same day — which probably explains why the jokbal was so soft and clean-tasting, and it paired really well with the jaengban makguksu.

If you're near Sunae Station in Bundang looking for a good jokbal restaurant, a place for a group dinner, or somewhere with tasty makguksu, I'd recommend Wangchang Jokbal! It was a great spot to fill up on jokbal and makguksu after work 😊
