Cafe Momuk (카페 모먹) is a 24-hour café in Sangnam-dong at 78 Jungang-daero, 1st floor, Seongsan-gu, Changwon. It's open daily 00:00–24:00, has underground parking, and parking is covered for 1 hour.

Whenever I wandered around Sangnam-dong, there was one café with its lights on late into the night, and I kept thinking, "What is that place?" My friends and I usually have dinner first, and for round two we're the low-alcohol-tolerance crowd who'd rather have coffee than drinks, so a late-night café matters a lot to us. Recently, after dinner, I was searching for a 24-hour café in Sangnam-dong nearby and finally tried Cafe Momuk.

And it's not just a café that happens to be open 24 hours. There's so much to eat, and even the milk choices are detailed, so I wondered why I hadn't come sooner, hahaha.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Cafe Momuk?

Overall, Cafe Momuk has a black-toned, dimly lit, wine-bar feel. When you first walk in it looks a bit like a wine bar, but it's definitely a café, hahaha.

There are tables for 2, 4 and 6, plus bar-style seats by the entrance, so it looks fine for coming alone for coffee and a sandwich. The tables are roomy too, so it looked good for working on a laptop. It seems like a good option if you're looking for a quiet 24-hour café in Sangnam-dong for late-night work.

How varied is the menu at Cafe Momuk?

Drinks alone at Cafe Momuk include cream lattes, coffee, decaf, non-coffee drinks, fresh fruit juice, ades, smoothies, shakes and tea, and most coffee drinks can be made decaf. I spent ages flipping through the menu, hahaha. The sheer variety is crazy.

But the food is even more surprising... sandwiches, waffles, hot dogs, toast, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fried rice, soup, takoyaki, sotteok sotteok (sausage and rice cake skewers), bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry), gyeran-ppang (egg bread), and there's even a popcorn machine in the back. Honestly, isn't this almost a food court rather than a café, hahaha? Even if you get hungry while looking for a 24-hour café in Sangnam-dong, you don't have to worry at Cafe Momuk.

Can you get lactose-free or oat milk at Cafe Momuk?

At Cafe Momuk you can choose from 5 kinds of milk for your latte. This is the part that touched me most, because I'm lactose intolerant and can't really drink regular milk.

Tiramisu waffle (₩6,300)

Cafe Momuk's tiramisu waffle is a thick, fat waffle topped with whipped cream and cocoa powder. I love tiramisu in general, so a waffle version? Can't resist, hahaha. It isn't overwhelmingly sweet, just pleasantly sweet, so it goes well with coffee.

Spicy wheat tteokbokki (₩6,900)

Cafe Momuk's wheat tteokbokki comes in regular and spicy, and I went for spicy without a second thought, haha. It wasn't tongue-burning, just nicely spicy.

Wheat rice cakes are chewy and the sauce soaks in well, so I kept reaching for more. Eating it with the hot dog cut the richness, which made a great combo 🔥

Nacho hot dog (₩7,400)

The hot dog at Cafe Momuk is seriously fat, hahaha. Finishing a whole one is more filling than you'd expect.

The sauce is tasty and it's topped with crispy nachos, so honestly it's hard for this combo to be bad. I also recommend dipping it in the tteokbokki sauce, haha.

Chicken tender sandwich (₩8,900)

Cafe Momuk's chicken tender sandwich has chicken tenders between soft bread, and a slightly sweet mustard sauce ties the whole thing together. Wow... it's fat, period, haha. I nearly tore my mouth trying to take a bite. It seems enough for a simple meal on its own.
