Millak café with comfy chairs, panuozzo & financier: Working Holiday

In short

Working Holiday Millak is an ocean-view brunch café with floor-to-ceiling windows on the 7th floor of Bada Maru, Millaksubyeon-ro, in Suyeong, Busan. Two of us shared a panuozzo sandwich (17,000 won), Bolognese pasta (20,000 won) and a financier (3,000 won), and the panuozzo, made with pizza dough, was the clear favorite. With its spacious room and comfortable chairs, Working Holiday Millak is a Gwangalli café made for brunch and long, unhurried conversations.

What kind of Gwangalli brunch café is Working Holiday Millak?

Working Holiday Millak is a Gwangalli brunch café that nails atmosphere, food and ocean view all at once, and it's well known as a great sandwich spot in the Gwangalli area. I found it while searching for brunch cafés in Gwangalli, and after going in person, I totally get why it's so popular.

Huge floor-to-ceiling windows give you a wide-open sea view, and the Australian-style interior made it feel like I was on a trip. The chairs in particular are really comfortable, so we sat there through brunch and coffee for ages and completely lost track of time. Haha.

Seating and space at Working Holiday Millak

Working Holiday Millak is on the 7th floor of Bada Maru, so you take the elevator up, and the big open space hits you the moment you arrive. It's quite a bit larger than I expected, and the tables are nicely spaced out!

Best of all, the sea view through the windows is really pretty. I think it would be even better in the daytime, when the sunlight pours in.

Ordering is done at a kiosk, so you can order comfortably without calling a staff member, and the restroom was kept clean too.

What we ordered for two: panuozzo sandwich, Bolognese pasta and financier

Panuozzo sandwich made with pizza dough

Panuozzo sandwich (₩17,000)

The panuozzo sandwich was the dish I liked most that day! It's a sandwich made with house-made pizza dough, and it looked seriously generous from the first glance.

From the first bite the dough texture was really good: slightly crisp outside, chewy inside! The saltiness of the mortadella ham and the fragrance of the arugula went well together, and the basil pesto made the flavor really pop.

But wow, the portion is huge. 😂 There were two of us and we ate it with other dishes, and we were still quite full. The pumpkin soup served with it was sweet and smooth and went really well with the sandwich.

Bolognese pasta with plenty of sauce

Bolognese pasta (₩20,000)

The Bolognese pasta at Working Holiday Millak comes with plenty of sauce, so the noodles stayed moist to the very end, and you could taste the deep savory richness typical of ragù. Dunking the bread served alongside into the sauce is a treat of its own.

Personally I love saucy pasta, so this was right up my alley. Haha. The portion was pretty generous and filling too.

Fluffy financier at Working Holiday Millak

Financier (₩3,000)

Financiers (small French almond cakes) are usually quite dense and chewy, but the one at Working Holiday Millak is soft and fluffy! It felt a bit like pound cake.

It was also bigger than I expected, so ₩3,000 felt like a good price.

  • Easy to chat for a long time

I'm adding Working Holiday Millak to my list of recommended Gwangalli cafés and plan to come back whenever I want brunch. Would I return: ★★★★★
