Samsong restaurant for a repeat-visit dombe pork set: Jeju Eunhui-ne

In short

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant in Goyang, Gyeonggi, just one crosswalk from Starfield Goyang. On a return visit the writer ordered the haejangguk and dombe pork (sliced boiled pork) set, and liked the kkakdugi (radish kimchi) waiting on the table, the deep broth stirred with dadaegi seasoning paste, and pork with no gamey smell. Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is worth a stop for a hot, filling meal or the morning after drinking.

Hello! Today I'm writing up my visit to Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch. I'd been here before and it was delicious, so I came back~!

It's just one crosswalk from Goyang Starfield, so you'll find it quickly. Out front there's a dol hareubang (stone grandfather statue) wearing a tangerine hat, which really gives off the Jeju vibe haha.

Seating and atmosphere: is solo dining comfortable?

Walking into Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch, the dining room is spacious, so it's great for larger groups too! There were also a lot of solo diners. Seating is standard 4-tops, but it's so roomy it never felt cramped~ There's also a coffee vending machine nearby, perfect for after a bowl of haejangguk!

Why order the haejangguk and dombe pork set?

Please check out the menu below! I ordered the set menu with haejangguk and dombe pork.

Rather than ordering each dish separately, getting the set with a smaller portion of meat fits my stomach just right, and it's much better value, so I end up ordering the set menu often. Next time I might try the tripe soup — the haejangguk is so good it makes me curious about the other menu items haha.

First to the table: peppers, doenjang, black rice and kkakdugi

Peppers, doenjang (soybean paste), and black rice came out right away, and the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) set at the table is genuinely delicious haha. You have to try it with the meal!! This place is a kkakdugi standout.

I took a bite of the pepper and it was too spicy for me, so I gave up on it haha... if you handle spice well, go for it~

How does the dombe pork taste?

The dombe pork (boiled pork sliced on a cutting board) came out first, served with salted shrimp and lettuce~! The thickly sliced boiled pork on the cutting board looked glossy and so appetizing. The ratio of lean meat to fat was just right, so it wasn't dry at all and stayed tender. I put a tender slice of meat on a lettuce leaf with ssamjang, garlic, and a bit of salted shrimp, wrapped it up, and it just melted in my mouth. No gamy smell at all — clean but savory, with juicy flavor bursting out more the more you chew, and it paired perfectly with the haejangguk broth haha.

Inside the haejangguk: broth and ingredients

The haejangguk arrived too! The earthenware bowl was piled high with finely chopped green onion, and underneath that, bean sprouts, glass noodles, beef brisket, and ox blood were packed in without a gap. The portion was so generous it was hard to even fit a spoon in, and just looking at it made me feel full already. At first it looks like a clear broth, but if you dig in a little you'll find a generous hidden layer of red dumplings-of-sauce (dadaegi). At Eunhui-ne Haejangguk, this seasoning is the key to the broth's flavor, so you need to stir it in to your taste. The seasoning is genuinely so good that I ended up finishing the whole broth!

A spoonful of the spicy, rich broth followed by a soft wrap of dombe pork just kept going down without ever getting tiring. At most soup restaurants, when you order meat as a side, the portion is often skimpy or dry, but here the meat quality was excellent enough to stand on its own as a dish. Mixing in a bowl of rice with well-fermented kkakdugi on top, plus the dombe pork alongside — it was truly a delicious meal~~

Is Jeju Eunhui-ne worth it for Samsong haejangguk?

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch has just the right flavor for when you want a warm meal or need to recover the morning after drinking — I really think it's a Samsong go-to. The portions are huge and filling, so I'd recommend visiting at least once! I highly recommend the set menu I had — if you're at this haejangguk restaurant, be sure to try it~!!
