Mini Male Coffee Roaster Gyodae Court Branch is a roastery café near Exit 7 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul, serving coffee roasted in-house and baked treats. On the way to a meeting, the writer ordered the signature Helsinki Latte (5,200 won), a Golden Assam milk tea and 2 financiers, and the Helsinki Latte stood out for its smooth balance of milk and coffee rather than bitterness. Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch is a good fit for anyone who wants a latte with a financier near Gyodae Station.

Solo-seat Korean restaurant in Seongsu, gomtang & hijiki mandu: Dwaeji

Dwaeji Gomtang House is a Korean restaurant specializing in pork gomtang (slow-simmered pork soup), located in the Special Pop-up Zone of the 4th-floor food court at Musinsa Mega Store Seongsu, near Seongsu Station in Seoul. During a solo shopping trip in Seongsu, the writer ordered the clear gomtang set (15,000 won) and minari hijiki giant dumplings (9,000 won), and was impressed by the clean, mild broth with no gamey smell, the generous meat and the crunchy hijiki in the dumplings. With single seats and bar seating, Dwaeji Gomtang House is a good spot to eat alone in Seongsu without a wait.

Sanshoku Ramen Gangnam Main Branch is a ramen shop serving chicken and pork broth ramen, about a 3-minute walk from Gangnam Station on the Shinbundang Line in Seoul. A writer who has visited more than five times ate the spicy red tori paitan (chicken broth ramen) alone after work and was happy with the smoky, fiery broth and tender chicken breast chashu. With consistent flavor and fast turnover, Sanshoku Ramen Gangnam Main Branch is a dependable spot for a solo meal near Gangnam Station.

Gangnam Station lash salon: after-work J-curl lash perm at Daet

Daet Gangnam Main Branch is a lash perm salon on Teheran-ro 6-gil in Gangnam, Seoul, within walking distance of Gangnam Station on the Shinbundang Line. The writer gets regular lash perms because squeezing an eyelash curler hard kept breaking lashes, and chose a tight J-curl after a one-on-one consultation; even bare, makeup-free eyes looked defined. Open daily until 20:00 with no days off, Daet Gangnam Main Branch is an easy after-work stop for office workers near Gangnam Station.

Yongsan sandwich shop, half-and-half takeout: Dance Dance Dance

Dance Dance Dance Hannam is a takeout-focused sandwich and baguette shop on Dokseodang-ro by the Hannam five-way intersection in Yongsan, Seoul. On a first visit, the writer ordered the signature plain tofu cream cheese baguette and a chicken breast ciabatta sandwich, ate half in the shop and took half to go, and the owner packed the leftovers with half of each sandwich. Thanks to the light, non-greasy tofu cream cheese and moist chicken breast, Dance Dance Dance Hannam is a sandwich shop worth returning to.

Yongsan hair salon reddish brown for yellowed long hair: ONLY FOR YOU

ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch is a hair salon on Dokseodang-ro near Hannam Five-way Intersection in Yongsan, Seoul. The writer's long hair had faded with a yellow cast and grown out at the roots, so designer Bandal gave it a full tone-down dye in a slightly reddish brown instead of black. The color came out even and glossy with no scalp irritation or chemical smell, a satisfying dye job to start the summer.

Seongsu solo work café: oat latte and choco cookie sandwich, T Coffee

T Coffee (티 커피) is a basement café at 159 Achasan-ro in Seongdong, Seoul, between Konkuk Univ. Station and Seongsu Station. The writer visited T Coffee alone with a laptop, ordered a café latte switched to oat milk and a choco cookie sandwich, and stayed for a long work session. T Coffee is calmer than Seongsu's main café streets, which makes it a good café for working alone on a laptop.

Hôtel de Couture (오뗄드꾸뜨) is a Western restaurant on the 1.5th floor (mezzanine level) of a Yeonnam-dong alley building in Mapo, Seoul, within walking distance of Hongik Univ. Station. After browsing Yeonnam-dong's gift shops with Mom, the writer shared mortadella lemon butter pasta (17,000 won), honey whole bacon rosé pasta (18,000 won) and jambon truffle cream risotto (16,000 won), and the fresh, sweet-salty and rich, creamy styles made a well-balanced trio. Hôtel de Couture is a great pick when you want something more special than the usual tomato pasta.

Monsoon-season Nintendo café date in Jamsil: go before 2 PM, One Play

One Play Jamsil Branch is an indoor play café with Nintendo, OTT, board game and manga rooms in the Jamsil Saenae food alley between Jamsil Saenae Station and Sports Complex Station in Songpa, Seoul. The writer went on a rainy summer day over 30°C for an indoor date and played Mario Kart and Overcooked in a Nintendo room with more than 20 game chips; on weekends, the 2nd and 3rd floors fill up from about 3 PM and a wait builds. One Play Jamsil Branch is a great Jamsil indoor date spot where you can pick the room you want and play for hours, as long as you arrive before 2 PM on weekends.

Sinnonhyeon gyukatsu: tenderloin on a salted-butter grill, Ichigyu

Ichigyu Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Branch is a gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) restaurant on the 2nd floor on Bongeunsa-ro 4-gil, near Exit 5 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. At Ichigyu, each table has a small Japanese-style grill: you rub salted butter on it, finish the rare-fried Korean beef tenderloin cutlet to your preferred doneness, then dip it in salt and wasabi. The striploin is good too, but the tender tenderloin gyukatsu is the writer's favorite, and booking Ichigyu on Naver is wise for weekday evenings and weekends.

Hey Jinny is a gastropub serving reinterpreted Chinese and Western dishes on the second floor of a building in the Hipjiro alleys near Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Two of us shared the Osaka niboebi (dried baby shrimp) oil pasta and yuxiang eggplant with a non-alcoholic mojito highball and an Earl Grey highball, and ordering extra rounds on the table tablet was easy. With full buyouts for 10-22 people and corkage allowed, Hey Jinny is worth considering for small team dinners or wedding invitation get-togethers.
