Lunch — no wait, breakfast — spot in Gapyeong: Jingogip Donghae Dongtaetang & Kodari Jorim, Gapyeong Seorak branch.
We went to Gapyeong valley for summer vacation water play and Mom got an upset stomach, haha. My kid wanted dakgalbi but I figured something warm was better, so we went back to this place — I'd had a great breakfast here last fall — Jingogip Donghae Dongtaetang & Kodari Jorim, Gapyeong Seorak branch.

It's 100m to the left right after you exit Seorak IC. It's a convenient stop if you're traveling to Gapyeong or heading to a nearby golf course or recreational forest. It's a clean, large standalone building, so it's easy to spot. There's even a lawn exercise yard for dogs behind the restaurant.
🅿️ Parking

There's a café called Pine Tree that operates right in front of the restaurant, so you get 10% off all drinks there after your meal.
Inside the restaurant and the self-serve banchan bar

The interior feels clean and modern. The high ceilings and tidy layout give it a calm, put-together feel.
The spacious partitioned seats also looked great for group tables.

The place is spacious and clean enough that it's apparently been used as a filming location.

The self-serve bar. They said they make all their kimchi and side dishes in-house.

Spicy stir-fried tiny anchovies that go straight into your rice bowl. The pickled perilla leaves were soft and fragrant since they're grown in-house.

Bean sprouts and chonggak kimchi (whole radish kimchi). The side dishes were good enough to rival a proper home-style restaurant — that's why we came back^^

You get 4 pieces of pollack pancake for a receipt review. And 10% off all drinks at Pine Tree after your meal.

As a pollack stew and kodari specialty restaurant, they had a good range of stews, braises and pancakes. What I liked is that every menu item can be ordered as a single serving, so solo diners and business travelers can walk in without hesitation. There were quite a few regulars eating alone — clearly locals.
We ordered two servings of dongtaetang and a half-plate of pollack pancake.

They set out the tidy side dishes first. The pretty lawn outside the window is the pet exercise yard.
Stir-fried zucchini, chonggak kimchi.
Pickled perilla leaves, stir-fried tiny anchovies. Made fresh that morning — good enough on their own to finish a bowl of rice.

Pollack pancake half-plate: 6 pieces fried to order
Our spicy dongtaetang and pollack pancake half-plate arrived. We sat by the window again — I liked the view of the green lawn.
The half-plate comes with six large pollack pancake pieces, served with a sweet-and-spicy soy sauce with onion and chili.

They fry it to order, so it came out sizzling hot.

Dip it in the soy sauce and take a bite! Oh, savory and delicious. The golden-fried pollack pancake has no small bones, so it was great for my kid to eat.

Spicy pollack stew for two, with milt and roe
Dongtaetang for two. It comes already boiled from the kitchen, so they said we could eat right away, but simmering it further in the metal pot over the burner made the broth even cleaner and tastier.

It was generously loaded with big, plump pollack, shredded green onion, radish, tofu, milt and roe.
My kid loves milt, so I gave some to her and the rest went to Mom and Dad. We dipped the well-cooked pollack flesh in soy sauce — it melted in your mouth.

The clean broth felt like a hangover cure even though we hadn't been drinking. It wasn't too spicy, so even someone who can't handle heat well could enjoy it.

My husband ladled more broth and mixed it with rice. The rice soaked up the broth beautifully, rich and savory.
On a Gapyeong trip, eating in the restaurant is great, but it's also worth grabbing a takeout dish to enjoy before heading into your accommodation.
