Chungju poke restaurant with steak bowls: Salad Ring

Salad Ring is a poke and protein rice bowl restaurant near Chungju Public Bus Terminal in Chungju, Chungbuk. I had shrimp and scallop bibim poke with brown-rice-and-barley rice, plus a flame-grilled steak protein bowl without vegetables, for a filling meal. Verdict: a light but satisfying stop before a trip.

Cheongju rice cake café for chocolate injeolmi: Tteokmama

Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch is a café-style rice cake shop in Gaesin-dong, Cheongju, Chungbuk. I looked over chocolate injeolmi and fruit mochi rice cakes, plus return-gift, 100-day celebration, and first-birthday rice cake options. A lovely stop for family snacks and gift-ready rice cakes.

Cheongju Korean BBQ for juicy Iberico pork neck: Yugi

Yugi Dongnam District Main Branch is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Cheongju, Chungbuk. I ordered three servings of aged Iberico pork neck with beef radish soup and a spread of side dishes, and it was so moist and tender it overturned my assumptions about pork neck. Verdict: Yugi is a place I’d return to when I’m craving a seriously juicy cut of pork neck.

Danyang Korean restaurant for pork ssambap: Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap

Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap is a Korean restaurant in Danyang, Chungbuk, serving black garlic rice and ssambap (rice served with leafy wraps) near Danyang Gugyeong Market. We ordered two servings of pork ssambap with our baby and enjoyed combining the wraps, side dishes, two sauces, and stew so much that we added more rice. Verdict: a hearty family-friendly Korean meal for a Danyang trip.
